While you guys are waiting for final production of this add sound dampener to the doors and trunk floor. It makes a significant difference in head unit sound quality even the Bose.

Isn't Dynamat heavy as hell? I iwsh I could remember the name of that company that makes the sound deadening spray (foam IIRC), but I'm not sure how that would go with my plans for some small custom door things I want done. I've already started The Great Rattle Hunt on my 8. I have a few more accessories to get for my DVD player/nav (backup camera, bluetooth adaptor, remote, and voice command kit) before I sound deaded.

I sell something called hushmat where I work. Its lighter, but not too much lighter, and can be put on any surface without cleaning or applying adhesive. I love it!

It has some weight to it but the 7.5 - 20 lbs (doors and trunk - entire interior) is well worth it in my opinion. It makes it feel like a more quality car by making it quieter and the stereo sounds much better. The doors have 9 inch speakers with the Bose, now it sounds like it.

I used FatMat which has held up great after a year and a half.

20 lbs.? That's it? Might be worth it after all! About how many rolls did it take for the doors and trunk?

I used less than 1 roll (50 sq feet) for the doors and trunk, which is 11 lbs.

wow. almost forgot about the dynamat. dang thats another $100 towards my audio system.

4 years.....very nicely done...looks perfectly rolled..HAHA we are so jacking this thread...i think..

Anyways. im starting to build my system. I currently have some Polk Audio 6 1/2 components up front. 6x9 in rear. Running off a Kicker 5 channel amp.

New system: Will consist of Kicker RS652 components all around. Powered by an Eclipse XA4200 4-Channel Amp.
2 10" Eclipse SW6010 subs. Powered by an Eclipse ZA1200 mono amp. With 2 Tsunami 1.2 Farad caps.
(Note to self...must dynamat)

Any suggestions? Comments? Concerns?

EDIT: Is this thread dead. or is he just away on business still?

Weight is a key feature when you're talking sound deadening. Heavier the better. No. I'm not kidding.

Thanks, if you are serious about the system adding an EQ to the and getting a RTA (real time analysis) done makes a world of difference on all the systems I have created and installed in the past.

If you want the best sound stage in the front lose the 6x9 in the back. If you feel you have to have fill sound in the back do a 6.5 without tweeter in the rear.

He'll be back when he has some news to report. I love having creative minds working on projects like this.

I'm not too sure yet exactly what to get yet. Im alright with audio but don't know exactly what would go best. With the enclosure I have it has too be 2 10"s. Don't know if I want to go with a 4 or 6 speaker system.

Someone help me out. Build me a good system. My options are Polk Audio, Eclipse, Pioneer, and Kicker....I can get speakers and amps and such from them. SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!!

P.S. Radio will come a while after its done just waiting on this dash kit. Most likely will be from either Pioneer or Eclipse.

JL is good but again that is not one of my options. At work (circuit city) I can get some great deals on the brands I mentioned. So unless I want to spend 3 times as much Im going to limit myself to those brands.

I also work at Circuit City. Do Polk MOMO series for interior speakers, a couple Kicker Comps or Comp VRs, all powered off a Kicker 700.5. The sub channel off that amp pushes my two CVRs a plenty. Headunit = Pioneer D3. But it's cheaper to go through Amazon.com and get the $200MIR offered by Pioneer right now. Our accommodations/discounts can't beat it. The number of POIs and iPod control suck on the Eclipse double-din navi units. The D3 is so much more user friendly it's sickening.

And you and I both know Pioneer sucks for everything but headunits. I work in the install bay. I listen to Kicker and Polk dB series speakers every day. Polk > Kicker IMO. If the MOMO line is too expensive for you, the db's are still better than any of the Kicker's IMO. The tweeter on the Kicker will make your ears bleed REAL quick. Little to no midbass for those either. The Polks sound much more true to life. But don't take it from me, listen for yourself!

EDIT: Oh and if you're waiting on the dash kit for the headunit, check to see when the MIR for the D3 ends. Don't miss out!

AHA thats exactly what I was thinking. Polk Momo. But since im going to fiberglass the doors color matched to galaxy grey I dont know if the momo grill will look good.

I already have the 5-channel but want to maybe put another set of components in the passenger doors. Want to try to keep it consistent all around (ie. speakers, subs, amps same brand.) just for the looks factor. I may be sacraficing some sound quality that way. But i dont really turn it up to high all the time except when I drive alone.

As far as the radio goes I'm waiting on the Pioneer F-series. I'm not too worried about navigation but the unfortunately pioneer decided to only put 2 preouts on the dvd4000.

Update!!.....i guess im just going to take off the rear top mount speakers and just put the components in the doors.

OK...going with Polk audio MOMO components in front and rear doors. Removing 6x9's in rear. The components will be powered by a Polk PA500.4 amp.
As far as the subs go I am a little fuzzy on the wiring. Dont know if I should go with a SVC or DVC. The amp will be a monoblock PA1200.1. Trying to go for a 2ohm load...so I should probably go with the SVC. Not sure if im calculating it right.
(if possible I want to create a 1ohm load with 2 10"s. That way I can get the PA600.1 and save some money and still correctly power the subs.)

I dont know too much about EQ's. Which brand do you guys recommend? Are more bands that much better?

Eclipse 5-band. EQ1000.
Pioneer 15-band DEQ7600 (bought twice the price of the other 2)
Kicker 5-band Kq5

P.S. If anyone wants the Kicker 5-channel 700.5 I'm thinking of selling mine for $200. ITs either that or blowing it. I got warranty so I get some money out of it. Much rather see it put to good use though. PM me....I know I should only post this in the FS section. Also got a 4 channel. And some speakers.

Please

I am by no means an admin, but can we please keep this thread on topic? There are many people who are interested in this product/idea/concept, which means there are probably a bunch of people subscribed to this thread. This thread is getting "noisy" since rx8scpowell is busy and has not posted any new info. I would just appreciate if we can keep this thread on topic. Not trolling, so please don't flame.

There seems to be a new Corksport group buy starting up. Now I'm not sure which way to go on this. I'd still really like to wait for this product. But also want to get a radio in soon cause the LCD display not working is getting annoying. same with the AC.

Sorry for the delay and no updates. I have finaly had some free time to get this thing going again and I am getting close with the aluminum option. I went over the design with a local company yesterday afternoon and got some cost etimates. I have to wait for the other project I am working on to wrap up before I move forward, but I should be done next week with that project.

So any possible ETA. As in months? So did you decide to go with the aluminum option or will there still be other options such as paintable or carbon overlay design?

Hmm.. Realistic ETA would be 2nd week of June. I like the aluminum option due to my start up costs are 1/10 of that of plastic injection molding and the final product is about the same cost due to limited production. The aluminum is also the most durable product and easily powdercoated in different colors. I am pushing to get this done as soon as possible since my LED bit the dust as well in past few weeks. I will work on getting a few back from the manufacturer around 1st week of june so I can send them out for testing and review.

Awesome sounds great. This may be a bit off topic but does anyone know a way to get a gloss black out of the aluminum? Either way I believe I will be getting one of these kits. 2nd week of June sounds good. The radio I'm looking to get comes out June 8th anyways.

Might even use carbon overlay. Yes I know it may be a little ricer. But not much will be seen.
