Best Audio System <$6,001

Hey guys, I am wondering what the best components below $6,001 would be. I was thinking of some Polk components (Polk lover), Eclipse AVN700 headunit. Other than that I dont know where else to go from, so can I get some help and have you make a list of components under 6k that will sound awesome in an 8.

Thanks,

-Will

All of my components (see the link to my VbGarage in my sig) cost around $6000. That's not counting the custom fab work, of course.

Cool setup Scud, I like the work for the headunit. I am thinking about going with this setup:

4x Polk Audio MMC5250 $299 (each) / Polk Momo 5 1/4 Component System / 2 in front door and 2 in rear deack
2x Rockford Fosgate Power Stage 1 T112D4 12" Dual 4-ohm Component Sub $399 /Sub / Trunk
2x Lightning Audio LS10-03 $109 / 1.0-farad Capacitor / Mounted next to amp
1x Rockford Fosgate PowerT20001bd $1,299 / 750Wx1 Car Amp / Mounted in trunk or lid
1x Eclipse AVN7000 $2,399 / Headunit Flipout DVD + Navi / In dash

Total: $5910

Things not included the Amp for the 4 component sets.

2,399 for the HU w/nav? Ouch. Yep I love CarPC's...

Why a indash (flip-out) screen HU? Personally I REALLY HATE those. Looks tacky and almost always guaranteed to block A/C vents or A/C controls (depending on the car). Why not get a 2DIN unit instead?

Good choice on the headunit, that is the #1 most important part of the system. Definitely do the single din route and modify the top panel for install leaving the center factory radio alone (or expect a huge monster collosal install bill). Is your stock system the Bose system or basic? Lots of choices, with the ones that you have made so far, I think some tweaking is in order. There is a thread started in this forum that shows the work I did earlier this year to a 8 with a Eclipse dvd unit in it.

My advice is simple, do it right the first time. I am extemely picky in the things that I recommend. This is based on my background. I want a highly predictable outcome for my customer, something that the paying customer wants as well. The equipment is only as good as the install, remember that. Find a damn good installer as this car requires one. Read the grounding sticky as it will apply to your new system.

Pm is a major hassle as I get flooded with them every day. (so is going back and forth on forum unless the information is relevant to other people). If you have MSN or e-mail handy, my e-mail and MSN is forbidden@telus.net , we can BS there if you like. I have some suggestions for you.

Revised list:

2x RE XXX 12" Subs
2x RE XXX Component Sets
Headunit debating, might get one that that can play dvd's and setup some monitors
Amp - going with what the RE tech says will allow me to get the crispest sound while remaining pretty loud

You're starting to scare me dude. Consider all of your options before deciding on one. Consider this perspective, the RE rep did the Jedi Mind Trick on you. The difference in a system designed to sound good and sound loud are two totally different things. The AVN7000 is a dvd chassis and will support outboard screens from first looks. I can check further into this tomorrow for you.

Again, I need to know whether your RX8 has the Bose system or base system in it before starting to recommend speakers. Here is a link to my work on a recent 8 as posted by Truemagellen for me.

I would get one or two of these in 12" or 15"
http://www.cerwinvega.com/products/m...dio/index.html

My favorite sub, but you are going to need a real powerful amp to power it. PPI maybe?

The 12" weighs 66lbs and is specified as a sub with "Insanely" High Excursion...hehe

The 15" sounds real deep, but is damn loud. These subs are quality and loud, but the normal stroker has a better quality sound.

I will finally do a complete write up on my system next week.

It cost me about $3K and is designed solely for audio quality - nothing flashy, no video.
