AMP Overheating Issue

Has anyone had any issues with an amp mounted on the floor of the trunk? Does the heat from the muffler come up through there enough to cause issues? My Kicker KX350 overheated on me today and the trunk temp was like a sauna in there. I didn't burn anything up, but it did cause it to auto-shutoff. I never had an issue with overheating while the amp was in my truck, so I don't think that's the issue. Is my issue with the mount location? Do I need to move the amp off the floor or does it just get that hot back there?

it does get hot back there from the exhaust. you can use some heat shield material layered on the floor under the capeting to help keep some heat out.

Cool I'm a fan fan.....

Fans, fans, fans.

Build a low frame under the amp and fan cool it.

If/when it gets hot in there, fans will move the heat away.

I have layers of silvered bubble insulation under the carpet, and the heat STILL gets thru, there is NO hotter place to mount the amp.
