the design of the wing is for real: it does work, albeit not equally well for each car (it's one of a few designs that teams can choose to run in the JGTC).

because it IS for aethetics primarily (really), it's in my opinion that it's just a little too high... drop it 3-4", and it'd not have any complaints.

I would have to agree with the drop actually.

Its a great spoiler , functional and pretty much its a universal spoiler now, hints the height, im sure its possible to get them to shorten it a little. As is and if your heavy into looks, it doesnt fit the RX8 lines well.

It feels like dejavu---A lot of people use to say the same about the RX7 with the same spoiler and now a lot of people have them hehe.

Yeah, IMO it would look better dropped a little since I won't be driving crazy speeds everyday. I'm not a huge fan of the cf wings, but I am trying to warm up to it. It can be done ricey or clean. Look at any RX-7 on a magazine and it has a cf wing. Look in Japan and the same goes. But, IMO it looks better on darker cars.

Did I make a mistake?

I don't have a lot of experience here, so you'll have to forgive what may seem like a novice question,...but I bought my 8 with the factory spoiler on it and now I've seen a few aftermarket spoilers that are rather attractive.

My question is, did I make a mistake getting the factory spoiler because it will limit my choices on aftermarket spoilers because of where the factory one mounts...or is there some way around this that my novice mind is not aware of?

Thanks for your informed response

I don't think you made a mistake, I think the factory spoiler looks great. Also of note a cars resale is enhanced with the addition of OEM parts. as for the mounting holes on other spoilers, I don't know if their any different, sorry.

dont worry about it
get any aftermarket spoiler you want and when a body shop installs it they can fill the holes left by the stock spoiler

Like Mike said, it's easy for anyone who can install your spoiler to fill holes left by the factory spoiler. However, most body kits on the market so far completely replace the front end from the headlights down (like the Mazdaspeed one does), so you may wind up not having to worry about filling any holes at all.

As for what to do with your old factory spoiler, put it up for sale in the "Parts for Sale" thread, here: https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-parts-sale-wanted-44/ . In fact, if it's a Titanium colored one, I might even be interested.

Hope this helps.

Do these wings actually BLOCK your rear view? (only for those who use their interior rear-view mirror a lot like I do..)

I've never driven a car with such high and mighty wings, although if i were to get one, I'd get the Mazdaspeed to go with the rest of the kit

Does anyone know if the Mazdaspeed and OEM Factory Spoiler fit in the same holes?

If not I'll just hold off on the wing.

Does anyone think that the Mint Blue rear spoiler is reminiscent of the Racing Beat 1993 MAZDA RX-7 that ran at Bonneville? I'm looking at an actual downforce wing, and this one seems to be the best idea that I like so far.

Cool - where are your pics located?

The '95 Bonnevile record was achieved by the addition of the spoiler, and it looks to have basically the same form as the Mint Blue one. Remember the '93 attempt in the White RX7? The one that went airborne? Well, they came back in '95 with the addition of this spoiler, and it held the rear end down for the record run, so this is the one I want - the Mint Blue one.

I really like this spoiler, but I'm not sure where or how to get it. I'm also not sure if it would look as good on a car without the body kit.

3.5 years since the start of this thread, I'm putting my vote in for the Mazdaspeed spoiler.

I just ordered one for my whitewater pearl. Funny how it's still the most popular.
