Rear spoiler ...

Does anyone else think that a whale tail spoiler would look good on the RX8? Like the ones on the M5, that lip spoiler, I don't know what the type is called, so I apologize in advance.

I personally prefer the subdued look of the "lip" spoiler. The whale tail looks like poop.

I wouldn't call a whale tail 'little'. I agree with the other posters, that the lip spoiler is enough.

As of now, the RX-8 in the US does not have the option to get the lip spoiler. Many are of the opinion (myself included) that it will be made available from an aftermarket company.

Canada gets the lip spoiler right? If so, then maybe we can order through a Canada Dealership. Somebody post this is in the Canada forum in the next month or two and see if they will have the ability to order that part number and let me know! I'm interested in the lip spoiler too.

Actually, I also want the Canadian white side markers. At some point, they will have the ability to order those items, so we should get a cotact up there to order them for us.

Cool Side markers.........

Check out the pictures of the recently arrived Canadian '8's -

They come in amber only. Euro spec is clear.

doh..! There goes my side marker theory. Guess I'll have to wait for aftermarket or order from Europe.

Thanks.

Rear Spoiler

Hi everyone, long time reader first time post. I was wondering if I ordered the RX with the factory spoiler, would I be able to install the Mazdaspeed spoiler later?

the mounting points aren't the same for the factory wing or spoiler, and the MazdaSpeed wing but it could be done.

Thanks Wakeech, does that mean if I order the RX8 with the factory spoiler and decide later I want to install the Mazdaspeed spoiler, my trunk will have holes from the previous? Or should I hold off on the factory spoiler and just order the Mazdaspeed one later?

Pics anyone? that Mazdaspeed spoiler is wicked.

spoiler

ok, my dealer (after jerking me around for a few months) has my rx-8 on the way to the dealership, unfortunatly i had ordered the spoiler....but this rx-8 is going to be without. i told him that i wanted an aftermarket one put on asap and his reply was that they couldnt get one until late sept. this will not do....for me anyhow.

so, does anyone know of somewhere that i could buy an aftermarket spoiler for the 8? different ones? good prices?

thanks!!

ok, first, do you mean spoiler, or wing? second, do you mean a Genuine Mazda wing/spoiler, or are you just looking for something in general? third, are you trying to enhance the look (and "performance") of your car, or make it ricey?

if i'm correct in assuming you mean a wing, and that you mean just any wing in particular, a good functional, light, "low-drag" (in relative terms), strong wing is expensive and hard to come by. the MazdaSpeed one is pretty darned slick, is a fairly low drag design (the aluminum pillars could use a light fibreglass fairing over each), but i'm unsure of it's mass and ability to generate downforce (although from the pictures i've seen the aerofoil design looks pretty solid).

if you're thinking cheap first, then you want just any old ricey wing, which are available anywhere for cheap. even Pepboys has a whole product LINE of rice.

Please do give your impressions when it arrives as to quality of materials and paint. I've very interested if you're genuinely impressed.

Thanks

I just got back from my dealer and he is selling factory spoilers for $270.10. For me its plus tax. For you its plus shipping. He told me they would sell it and install it for $350.00.

Is this a fair price? He told me they would not be in until the middle of September.

hello all. i still have not receievd the spoiler i ordered from spoiler depot (see earlier post) but the company we use for aftermarket factory items stopped by today with a rx8 spoiler. they now have them the company is called Blankenship. i have looked at the spoiler and we placed one on top of my car it looks just like factory. prise installed is about $350.00 (more or less i do not rememebr the exact price, sorry). it inlcudes lifetime warranty, painted and installed by them they can install in almost any state. if you are interested call holly fauchald (949) 306-3530 and tell her Robert from Browning mits said to call. we have used this company for years and they are great. the reason i did not buy was when i called them 3 weeks ago they told me it would be awhile before they had one then i saw the other one on ebay and bought that one already. so unfortuantely i can not buy this one since i already bought the other one. but i do recomend Blankenship.

edit: there web page is http://www.blankenshipaero.com

Where's the the Euro Lip spoiler which is not available on stock USA models? The factory choice is two completely different spoilers and should be broken up into two choices.
