Exactly, thanks... It takes a mod to make some sense of this..

The point is, that there are do nothing wings and there are do something wings. The wing that we are discusing is of the later variety. It was a wing developed by Re Amemiya and if you know your rotory tuners then you would know his parts are not fluff. If you want to read on the develpment of this wing, you can at his site.

http://www.re-amemiya.co.jp/

There is not a single rotory fan that will deny his tuning.

There is a diffrence in rice and true mods. You have to know your tuners and parts to tell the diffrence.

I just installed the factory spoiler

I got a factory spoiler from local dealer and installed it myself.

The hardest part was finding 8 and 10 mm drill bits.
I found all but the 10mm and finally realized that there is a US bit that is equivalent 9.9mm.

You will also need a round file and touchup paint.

The paint is used to make sure you do not get rust were you drill holes are made.
Need to make four 10mm holes and two 8mm holes. Start with small drill and work you way up as per instructions.

The Mazda factory kit comes with two heavy-duty truck shocks. They were easy to replace. I believe they are necessary.

The whole job took less than hour.

The advantage to have the dealer do it is insurance against messing the job up and needing to replace the truck lid. I am assuming that the dealer will replace the trunk lid if they blow it.

The advantage for doing the job your self is that you can make sure that the holes are sealed with touch up paint (the dealer may skip that step) and saving money.

Nice wing. It might actually come in handy if you manage to get your car up to 300mph on your way back to Japan for your nice big bowl of RICE.

That's the trouble with wings. If you look at the very functional wings on cars prepped for racing, they all look like that. Put that same thing on a Honda (or whatever) and everyone likes to scream R ice, but you'll never see a stock looking spoiler added to a car for racing purposes.

That said, I'm not a big fan of the racing wing look either...the Mazdaspeed wing is about as tall and obnoxious as I like them.

Some people have issues with the styling, and that is fine my gripe is that there is rice and there are hiqh quality tunning parts that actuly increse the performance of a vehical. This wing adds to the performance.

I am just not one to put something on a vehical for pure looks. It has to be performance orientated or it does not go on my car.

it's a nice wing until you look at it from the back...then it's just WAY too high...also, it may be functional, but how many of you will actually get to speeds high enough for it to become functional? also, it doesn't look so good on the black car with no body kit on it whatsoever...looks like a stock 8 with a huge wing which makes it even more ricey looking...with a full body kit, it doesn't look so bad

way too big...like i said, from the back it looks horrendous and completely unnecessary...but to each his own

To spoil or not to spoil?

Hi everyone! I'm new to the board as I've only recently been bitten by the "RX-8 bug". I'm planning on ordering my RX-8 in February as I'm anticipating an April delivery date...just in time for the snow to stop here in Chicago! I've been fretting over what colors and options to get for my RX-8 and I've pretty much decided that I'm going to get black with the black/red leather.

When it comes to options, I've really been split over the decision whether or not I should get the spoiler (not the MS one). A lot of the demo RX-8's I see around here that are black have one, and it looks pretty sweet. For those who have it, does it block rear visibility much? When you look out the back do you see a solid horizontal bar?

I'd really like to get the lip spoiler that they offer on European RX-8's. Does anybody know where you can track one of those down or would I have to get a hold of some dealer in the UK willing to ship one to the States?

Other than that, I can't wait to get my RX-8! My next car was supposed to get better mileage than my Jeep Wrangler so I can save money on my long commute to work, but seeing as how much fun the RX-8 was I just can't pass it up!

Gotta have the Spoiler, It just brings the whole sports car appearance out. I have a neigbor that has a blue 8 with no spoiler, it just looks basic to me. As for seeing out the back, after getting use to it being there, I can see just fine. Theres a line, but you can still see well. Get the Spoiler!

To be honest, I've seen black with and without (mine!) and I have to say, unless you're going for the full MS type body kit, I think the back end of the black looks best without, especially that standard mazda jobbie. Personal preference though... This site is a good one to see how all the accessories will look, all in Japanese, but play with it and you'll find what you want eventually.

I agree.....I think that black with the appearance package and without the spoiler looks best....Mine has a spoiler on it, but I told them I didnt want it, and they are going to swap out trunks for me. It's actually getting done on monday!!!! All the ones that I have seen at the dealer have spoilers, and I like to be different. Plus, I just like the look of it without one. I think it looks good with one, so I guess it comes down to personal preference.

Good luck.....

See my accessories package in my sig. Personally, I like the 8 with and without the spoiler. But I didn't want it. The *** end on the 8 looks great as is IF you are not totally stock. I don't like the look of the totally stock 8 (except maybe on the Ti).

Also I can tell you that waxing, washing, California Blading -- my favorite part to do is the trunk/rear area If you don't go spoiler, you may want to think about tinting your rear windows though to "fatten" out the look of the rear.

To each his own. I happen to love the spoiler. You must decide which YOU like best. It looks great either way. :D

I would get the black without spoiler. I ended up gtting a tity gray WITH spoiler, but the black is a beast and doesnt need it IMO.

OMG... sooo ugly, would crack me up every time I saw it on the road though.

Functional or not, performance enhancing or not; WOW that looks BAD.

Just my opinon of course.
