Hey Guys,
So my bulbs should be here this week and this will be my Good Friday project to swap them out, but I was looking around the car this weekend, it turns out my running lights are the high beam lights (I live in Canada, where it is mandatory to have running lights, during the day.
I believe those bulb's are H9's (correct me if I'm wrong). The only thing I'm seeing for those on V-LED are the HID Conversion kits which I don't want to do, because these are just running lights, and my regular night driving lights are already HID (wow that was confusing to keep straight).
Just wondering if anyone can recommend, something that would match the 6K white/blue output from the rest of the bulbs we are getting in this thread.
I guess I could just keep my parking lights on all the time, which is safer for driving anyways, because they are more visible in the sun and any lighting condition, but I Was just curious what others are doing for their high beam / running lights.
Thanks,
Wheels

How much brighter than the stock fogs are these out-of-stock LED fogs? I was all excited about this until I heard that they're working on a new one that's significantly brighter still. However...if the existing (out of stock) LED fogs are much brighter than the stock dim fogs, I might go ahead and get them anyway...

Personally, I would wait for the new 500 lm version. I know as soon as those come out, I will be ordering a set.

That's correct, the current LED fog bulbs are not as bright as halogen bulbs and they don't throw a lot of useful light on the ground. They are not for lighting up the road, they are strictly for appearance. Having said that, they are bright enough that they pop from quite a distance during the day, so if you've done the foglight rewire mod, they do make useful daytime running lights.
As for the 500lm version, I wasn't given any time frame as to when those would be for sale, and I would guess it may be after this member discount is over. Just something to think about. I'm with KWarner04 though, even though I'm happy with my current setup, I'll be buying those 500lm when they come out, discount or not.

There's two ways to do it in that thread. One is to tap into the accessories circuit so you can turn them on anytime. The other is to tap into the tail light circuit so they only can be turned on when the tail lights/parking lights are on.
Personally, I prefer the second way and that's how I have mine wired. But either way, it's a great idea!

lm stands for lumens which is a measurement of brightness. I asked V-LEDs if they were going to create a foglight bulb using the .5 watt LEDs and they told me that they were working on one right now. It will have 68 LED (I don't know what the ratio of .5 watt to standard is) and will put out 500lm. The standard 68 LED bulb that they currently sell is 136lm. So the new one will be over 3.5 time brighter!

The 500lm lights are LEDs that emit 500 lumens of light output. Basically, it's how "strong" the light is.
Think of it this way...the light may look REALLY bright, but how far will the light actually go in the dark, that's lumens or light power. The bigger the number, the more powerful the light.
The H11s that I have (the ones that are sold out) only have a light output of approximately 150lm. So the new ones will be much stronger and work much better as fog lights. The current ones are great for appearance, but not really functional.

Stick your finger in the hole and move the reflector cap up and down with your finger, it will bend the stalk that it's on right at the base. Keep doing this untill the stalk breaks. Pull the stalk out of the hole. The cap will not fit out the hole because it is slightly too big. While holding the stalk, reach in with a needle nose plyers and squeeze the cap. You should now be able to pull it out through the hole. Should be pretty easy.
When I did this, there was a layer of soot on the inside of the cap (from the halogen bulb I assume). After removing the cap there were flakes of black sooty stuff in the housing. I took the oportunity to wash them thoroughly inside and out. Just make sure they are completely dry before putting the bulb in.
