this pix i have heard stories of when the oem spoiler is taken off that
it rips paint off the trunk so i decided to use simple green(home depot)sells it
and some goo gone(orange bottle)homedepot, craft store or grocery store.
let it sit for a while or over night
i let it sit for 20min.

the metal looking parts are fiberglass painted silver to look like metal
but they are not hollow and dont seem flimsy
of course metal brackets would of been better

Are you going to do anything about that gap? Not to spoil your day, but its pretty noticeable, at least from those pics.

the black bolt needs to be shaved down cause it goes into the trunk it doesnt
go into the 3rd hole in trunk where oem spoiler had 3rd plastic(white) tab.
easy fix just a sec on sander and that was that.

i will most likely have the shop do all the work this thursday.
meaning 3m needs to be put on
i had it done before to my pfs 3 peice wing on my rx7
by only using 3m to hold it down with no screws
worked perfectly

Ok... I'll have a go ... here's a few questions:

1. Is the upper wing hollow or solid?

2. How much does it weigh (I know a guess)?

3. Any issues with the weight as far as trunk lid opening?

4. It looks to me like the lower "lip" will need some significant work to create a recessed shelf to set the 3M tape in along those edges... yes?

5. Given the quality of the RX-8 and it's upscale persona, what is your opinion of this part's quality in comparison?

6. What is your opinion of the long-term viability of this part?

7. Would you buy another one just like it?... or recommend it?

Not to ruin your day, but I'd be pretty upset with that purchase. Aside from the plastic brackets, it seems like a poor fit and very cheap quality. Plus now you have to have a shop work on it, and one of the bolts is cracked? Hmm.

Maybe it will look better once it's painted, but right now I think I will stick with my OEM spoiler.

-8- which bolt is cracked ?
or did you misunderstand me somewhere theres no problems with bolts
other than 2 have to be sanded down or make a hole in the trunk and im not doing that.
so sanding was easier.in other words the 3rd bolt was too long so...
well so far i say you get what you pay for
and i think its okay not 100% perfect but im see.

ahh good questions
1.solid
2.entire wing maybe 7 lbs
3.no not at all mayeb same as stock
4.i think or thought the same but am now being told that it can be 3m down but the shop should no more.i guess once they receive it.
5.well when dealing with fiberglass and the equipment teh manufacturer uses
its no comparison yeah its nice and very similar but not as good quality as any dealer aero parts.
6.i think it will be okay i baby my car, wash it clean it take really good care of it.
garage keep it and such.
but i think it will hold up in time.
7.i would reccomend it to any one that simply doesnt want to spend 3x the money for a simialr spoiler.yeah m/s original is better of course but can it compare on a scale yes.i would only reccomend it to those that know and accept that its not original.and at that some people have had issue's with original mazda speed spoiler.but no one ever complains and i dont expect anyone too.
8.im glad i did the buy it looks amazing on the car
im sure it will need some work and the final decision and after it is painted will
determine my overall decison that i made.
9.ihave a friend that his pop owns a huge machien/aluminum and all that good stuff shop.they make stainless sink for major companies in u.s and restaurants.
he told me he can make the same plates in his shop.but i think i will try these out for a bit and fall take the iwng apart and have him make me a aluminum bracket.
10.also the guy that fixed my wheels which is 2 min away from my house has a nice shop and he might be able to get it done quicker but there i would have to pay for it.lol :p
thanks kelly
