would adhesive stick-ons even be durable or last long enough on a rear wing like that?

we will see, im not sure but im hoping
well guys i took the wing off the car and taking it apart too get ready for the shop tommorow.and i couldnt beleive it was plastic menaing i doubted it was plastic like a
kid toy.
but it ISNT
i wish i can weight ever single bracket looking peice.
but cant, but its not strong and has some weight to it.
i walked around the living room with it
pondering what the hell is this cant be plastic
im no expert on plastic or such.so i decide to take a small chip off the part that
is hidden by the wing. 1mm even smaller just to figure what the hell it is and its
fibergalss yup seemed liek platsic but i see the weaves.its just painted right to look like metal thats why the paint sticks so well to it. and there threads in brackets for screws.
im thinking of seeing how long it will take to make metal ones
just in case
but im glad its not plastic.
oh yeah fiberglass is full not hollow at all,
all four peices are thick.
lol i called my nephew over and hit him with it just to test it out.lol i know i know.
and he felt it it sounded solid.

oh yeah now looking at everything its so easy to make these parts
i mean the hardest thing is the bottom of the m/s spoiler.
and a good machine shop that can cut metal design's.
im sure in time there will be plenty of companies with this replica wing.
and im sure they will improve in time.

not bad at all... how does the overall quality and feel of the wing? flimsy or sturdy? i like it enough that i'd order it.. (unless aeroworks gets on the ball and makes a urethane one <-- hint )

Also want to add that it was sticker shock that the brackets were FG but the overall quality of the spoiler is good. I will have mine painted in the next week also. Now I wish I had a trunk with the holes drilled already because now the quess work comes out.

This is as close as you can get... maybe the metal bit is not as polished as the real spoiler - but still can't split the difference. Nice

thanks guys
flipstream its sturdy
im amazed how genuine it looks on the car.
it is best bang for the buck
i feel if i had painted 500+ for it i would be very disappointed
but for 250 you can barely buy a stock wing for that price.
im expecting to have it in the shop later today hopefully they dont have many cars
and can work on it asap.im sure with the finished product i will be happy what i paided for it.

Actrually, depending on how the supports were fabricated, Structural FRP (Fiberglass Reinforce Plastic) can be stronger than steel for support applications. I know that this can also be done in Carbon Fiber and that would be superior design-wise. However, to make a metal bracket, which I have suggested using aluminum, all the tools that would be needed are a small drill press, a grinder, a scroll saw with a metal blade, a dremel tool, a workbench with a vice and a dremel tool. The center holes in the support could be driled out with several passes through the drill press to take out as much material as possible so that the dremel can take out the remaining. I think there is a bend which would have to be made by clamping the stock material in the vice and bending the aluminum bar before cutting it to size. This can be done with leverage such as a pipe over the end to lengthen the bar for this purpose. Aluminum will bend fairly easily but I would do this very carefuly and slowly. Cut the rough size from the original piece, use the drill press for the mounting bolt holes and center holes, use the dremel for the inside of these holes and a grinder for the outside edges of the support brackets. After roughing it to the size of the original bracket, the dremel is used to do the finish sanding and afterwards to do the buffing. I would pick up some buffing compound for this purpose. Yes, there is a lot of work involved in this and a lot of tools but look at it this way, these tools can be used for many things to come. :D You can't have too many tools, it's a guy thing.

Not to get off the subject, but I really like your wheels. Would you mind telling me what kind they are, what the size and offset is, and what size tires are on them? A PM would be great. Thanks.

It would definitely accentuate the fact that it's a replica spoiler versus the real Mazda version. I think it may make it look cheap/flimsy to people who are familiar with the mazda version. I may be convinced completely otherwise if I were to see it Photoshopped, though.
