These last photos were just test fittings of the first pieces out of the molds. This is the finish they come with, although I am going to do mine in sating black.

The final molds were expected to be ready this week, unless there was a setback.

I called Ken at Shine Auto today... no updates yet. Remember, they're redoing the side skirt molds. This isn't the only thing they do all day long. They have to keep cranking out the pieces people order.

Should be this week or next though.

BTW- Would anyone be interested in a 3-hole gauge pod for the upper center dash?

You talking about where the Navi goes? I would love to have that.

First they'll finish the bodykit and see if that sells. Then, if I can make a case for it, and come up with an attractive design, it's possible they'll make the gauge pod for me. In carbon fiber, naturally!

BTW-What are the standard gauge sizes? We might have to set it up with a "You-dremel" approach to sizing as I'm sure they won't want to cut them all to fit. I just want a place to mount the exhaust temp, oil pressure, and oil temp gauges for when I head to the track in 07.

I must have sat looking at this photo for 5 minutes tonight... just staring at it... MMmmmmmmmmmm, sexy!

Of course now I realize that I'm going to have to remove the rear bumper lower cladding and finish it in satin black to match the black on the body kit! Ugh! My wing should be on the way soon too! <sigh>

It's a secret! Shhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Actually I hope to be using Extreme Dimension's M-speed wing, but I want to remake the mounts to relocate the upper wing farther back to match the aesthetic look I want. The stock Mazdaspeed wing is too much over the body for my taste.

Extreme Dimensions makes it in carbon and regular fiberglass. I'll probably get the fiberglass one and finish it in satin black too.

It's the same as the Mazdaspeed wing, only for $299, AND it's one of the only wind-tunnel-tested designs available. They do have a GIANT wild wing available but it's like a true JGTC design, and might look out of place on my more subtle work.

it's more than the wing, it has a bulging CF slab that mounts on the trunk lid, I don't dig the MS shape either

The "slab" that mounts on the trunk is there for a purpose... i.e. to help airflow separate from the back of the car at high speeds. The wing over top is adjustable for a touch of downforce which probably isn't enough to be felt at anything under 100 mph.

Photo,

You've got to be chompin' at the bit with the anticipation of your kit being done.

When yours is done, do you know if that means others will be available for order?

Thanks as always.

Yep, that's what it means... and FYI, I'm making a trip to Shine Auto for (hopefully) the last test fitting later this week.

We have about 3 sets in stock right now. As soon as we test fit them and see if the flange we've added on the sides are good to go on PhotoMonkey's car, they will be officially available for sale. We'd hate to sell a product that doesn't work they way we want. You figure all the work we put in to make sure our products fit, I don't see how an overseas manufacturer can put in this level of quality control unless they have easy access to the car. I don't know if there are Rx8's in China.

I like the way you talk Shine!

Is photo's one of those three sets and when you refer to a set are you meaning the front, sides and rears? No matter because if all goes well I'll take the second set off your hands.

Thank you for all the hard work on this.
