Interest in US-made Burnout KD-IV kit?

I'm talking with a vender who might reproduce the Burnout KD-IV kit in flexible FRP, for those of us who love the look of the original body lines, but just want it to look meaner. The flexible FRP should be much more resistant to breaking on curbs and dips, even on a lowered car.

It would also be US-produced, high-quality, and available on demand, not with 4-8 weeks of wait time and high shipping costs.

If there's enough interest I'm sure I can get them to produce it. Let me know. Thanks

If produced, it should look exactly like the KD-IV kit. I mean, what's the purpose of producing a kit you like the appearance of if it doesn't actually look LIKE the kit?

I'm also thinking of having the very short radiator shroud on the front airdam increased in sized (back to the radiator) to help guide the air in. I have to look under my 06 car and see how it's hooked together down there first though. That would probably be the only significant change to the design, unless we find something else which could be improved.

I didn't think that I was the only person out there who wanted his RX-8 to remain looking like an RX-8.

That's 5 total so far in just two days (counting me) who are interested... If the Burnout kit retails for $1,595 or so in FRP (with the eyelids) from Japan (not counting freight), I'm not certain what this US-made kit will cost done in "modified FRP". If it's as nice as their other pieces which I've seen and flexed, it'll be very nice stuff indeed! Oh and it's lightweight too. Did I mention it's LIGHTWEIGHT? LOL

I remember being much younger, and thumbing through aero parts catalogs for old Z car stuff... I loved the look of the 240Z with a basic front air dam and side skirts. Not to start a flame war, but "kombat" kits are for people lacking in manhood!

The Burnout kit would look like this, only would be made in "modified FRP" which is very flexible, and would be available US-made and stocked. No international shipping required. I don't have an estimate on the pricing yet.

im already on the list for the replica in carbon. Basically its a foot race for my money, i want this.

I am interstead , but EVO-R is already making the Burnout lip. Maybe you good do a different kit so you guys aren't spliting sales and we will have more to choose from.

in fact, i believe EVO-R intends to make the full kit hmm...

Yes, but not many are made of a nearly unbreakable, flexible fiberglass! Only the ones from Shine Auto... If you live in the real world and want to drive your seriously-lowered car on the street, THIS is the stuff!

BTW-we did the test fitting of the Burnout kit yesterday. Shine Auto will be making the molds soon, with a few revisions to the kit to make it easier to mount.

iono...doesnt look like the burnout kit to me. the front lip doesnt flare out and the center is slanted wrong. looks more like the r-magic one.

thats not the point. the point im trying to make is that, japanese companies are sick of there products getting copied and having there ideas jacked. lets jus say, when they find out these things they arent happy and they would probably take action

It took 3 months to get this! Great freakin' hell! If the Japanese companies cared that much, they could find a way to shorten the time it takes to get the products to the US market like everyone else does!

Besides, Shine is not only making this out of a superior material, they're changing the design to an easier mount in the front, and on the rear quarters, both reflections of the improvement in material. Those changes alone would hold up in US Patent courts! Besides, the JDM companies don't bother to patent their designs, and they certainly don't honor the patents anyone else has..

Too funny... that there is an AUTHENTIC Burnout KD-IV kit, in the flesh. It is not, however, permanently mounted to the car yet, so there could be some slight bends visible in the fiberglass. Compare it to this picture, which is the Burnout kit rendered in Carbon Fiber.

Edit: Ok, due to my own stupidity, my kit is a Burnout KD-IV Type II, which is subtly softer than the KD-IV Type I pictured here. The lines flow a bit better with the body. I didn't even know there was a difference, and neither did the guy placing the order in Japan apparently. This will be interesting because, as far as we know, this is the only one of these kits in this country right now. All of the others are Type I (including the one that Evo-R has).

Lazi:How many knock-off Mazdaspeed parts have you sold since 2004? Any? Did Mazda sue you or the makers of those pieces? There's always a market for straight knock-off, but, again, if there are changes made to the parts, cosmetic or structural, patent laws won't protect you. This is why Mazdaspeed paints their parts. Half to justify the price, and half to set them apart from unpainted knock-offs.

Anyway, I wanted the kit reproduced in flexible fiberglass for people who like racing or drifting, but don't want to replace parts every time they smack a cone on the track. Know of any other fiberglass parts which won't break?

Type II looks really nice like a mix r-magic and burnout. When does this go on sale?

I like the type II also, does this come in carbon? Does anyone have a link to a burnout website?
