Installing front splash guards....

So I have front spash guards for my 8 and I'm having problems with taking the clips off. I followed the directions and took a flat head screwdriver and tried to push it forward but it won't budge. After about a half hour I got pissed and quit. Anyone have suggestions?

Also, after doing a SEARCH, I found that cutting the the stone guards is a bit of a pain in the ***. Before I cross that bridge, what have you guys and gals used to cut those things?

Thanks,

Oliver

A hacksaw with a older blade, the plastic will mess up a good one. Score the mark first with a box cutter. Also do not go by the instructions in regards to how much to cut. Test fit the guard and mark the part to remove . As for the clips just try again.

The rock guards are easy to cut. Just mark them, then use a straight edge to line up and then score several times with a box cutter. They really aren't that hard. I don't remember which clips you are talking about, but I do know that the front mud guards were the easiest to install out of them, the rear flares, and the side flares. The rear flares weren't that difficult (because the holes you have to drill in the rear bumper are marked at the factory. However, it is a little time consuming and you have to remove the bumper. The side flares require you to remove the rear wheels and use taped-on templates to mark holes in your sheet metal which you have to drill into. That was the most time consuming for me, although the second side went much faster. If you have much trouble with these, I would honestly recommend you pay someone to do the flares if you ever get them because the installation is harder, and you can screw up your car if you aren't careful.

Has anyone tried to cut the rock guards with out taking off the clips? It seems like it would work but I don't have the instructions with me.

I got them installed but I lost a screw!

I guess I'm off to the hardware store on Sat. to replace it. Other than that it went fine!

I gave up on the clip and just took some scissors and cut without messing with the clamps. That made it a lot easier!

I'll post pics soon!

umm, u stick a flatscrew inbetween the rubber guard and the body of the car. be careful you don't scrape the paint. I had a problem on this as well. but do it like this and it should be easier. u need to pop the clip out, not push it out.
