Hid Help
Hey guys, I was curious if anyone had the 55 watt ballast? I'm wondering if it will fit under the headlights but I haven't tried taking it all apart yet. I've never installed HIDs before so I'm trying to follow the instructions as best I can but I'm lost on where to connect the red and black wire that are supposed to supply power to the ballast. Does this go in the OEM plug? If so, do I have to cut or anything? This is the kit I purchased. Any help and/or advice would be greatly appreciated. I chose the Plug N' Play harness so I don't know if I just need to go ahead and take off the bumper and have a look myself but I'd just like to be prepared before going through all the trouble and the instructions don't seem to say how I would connect the small red and black cable to the existing OEM power plug (or which goes to what side)
Okay, so I figured it out. Went out and got a multimeter from walmart so I got the positive/negative right and the HIDs turned out great. mounted my full size 55 watt ballasts on top of the rubber oil cooler guard.
The install is pretty easy. Also in the wheel well there is a good spot to hide the little Ballasts.. the easy way to do this set up is take the front wheels off and the iner wheel well. it seems like a lot and you could do it just by turning your wheels but it is a lot easier and you get a better shot at it with the wheels off... If you need any help.. feel free to ask
This seems like the answer to aquestion I asked in another thread, amazing how much info having the right keywords (i.e. HID and not XENON) will get you

I would be interest in finding this bumper removal PDF that was hinted at earlier in this thread. Is it just as easy/effective just removing the wheels though?

I think it is much easier removing the wheels. It is a straight shot into the housing, You want to get the easiest way and striaghtest way in there so you wont have a misaligned light which really sucks. And you can mount the Ballasts in the iner fender with the Sticky tape that the company gives you.
Plus, you don't run the risk of breaking your clip off if you're not familiar with replacing the H7 bulbs. It's tricky if you've never done it before without being able to look at it. I know a couple of people that have wound up with broken clips because of this.
