Hey guys, I was curious if anyone had the 55 watt ballast? I'm wondering if it will fit under the headlights but I haven't tried taking it all apart yet. I've never installed HIDs before so I'm trying to follow the instructions as best I can but I'm lost on where to connect the red and black wire that are supposed to supply power to the ballast. Does this go in the OEM plug? If so, do I have to cut or anything? This is the kit I purchased. Any help and/or advice would be greatly appreciated. I chose the Plug N' Play harness so I don't know if I just need to go ahead and take off the bumper and have a look myself but I'd just like to be prepared before going through all the trouble and the instructions don't seem to say how I would connect the small red and black cable to the existing OEM power plug (or which goes to what side)

Okay, so I figured it out. Went out and got a multimeter from walmart so I got the positive/negative right and the HIDs turned out great. mounted my full size 55 watt ballasts on top of the rubber oil cooler guard.

This seems like the answer to aquestion I asked in another thread, amazing how much info having the right keywords (i.e. HID and not XENON) will get you

I would be interest in finding this bumper removal PDF that was hinted at earlier in this thread. Is it just as easy/effective just removing the wheels though?

I think it is much easier removing the wheels. It is a straight shot into the housing, You want to get the easiest way and striaghtest way in there so you wont have a misaligned light which really sucks. And you can mount the Ballasts in the iner fender with the Sticky tape that the company gives you.

Taking one wheel off is about as hard as it is to take off your front bumper. You can organize your wires alot better this way. Save yourself the hassle of having to jack up the car and remove 2 tires then having to reach through your wheel well and just access it directly from taking off the front bumper. You'll have to take out the light assemblies too but this keeps everything simple and easy. You mount the Ballast wherever, run your wires, place the bulbs inside of the assembly, connect your wires and you're good to go from there. It may have worked out for others going through the cramped space in the wheel wells but take it from me that taking the bumper off is cake.

Plus, you don't run the risk of breaking your clip off if you're not familiar with replacing the H7 bulbs. It's tricky if you've never done it before without being able to look at it. I know a couple of people that have wound up with broken clips because of this.

+1
And if you have done it before, probably it will take you less than 10 mins to do it again.
