debadging the RX8

Hey, anybody know how remove the Mazda plate on the left and the RX8 logo on the right?

Are they just super glued on or do they have holes holding them in place as well as the glue?

Thanks.

If you do a search you may find it, but in another thread, perhaps regarding stolen badges, I saw someone say that, like the Miata, one of the badges has pins and the other is just glued on. I don't remember which is which.

I wouldn't mind debadging mine, if it weren't such major surgery. (You'd have to fill in the holes and repaint the deck lid to do it right.) Maybe it's obnoxious, but I love to keep people guessing.

All the emblems have posts except for the "RX-8". I just had it done and got my car back yesterday. Yes, basically it's just glue, taking them off is easy, all you need is a blow dryer and some dental floss. Getting the holes filled and painting is the hard part.

RX-8 Badging

Hello all!

I just got my RX-8 a month ago and I'm in love.

Titanium Silver Metallic
Sport package w/6 disc

My brother has a Dodge Stealth R/T. He took off all the badging.
Even though it's a boring looking car, after he did that it looked a lot better. So much more clean, sleek and custom.

MY QUESTION:
IS THE RX-8'S BADGING GLUED ON OR DOES IT HAVE THE PINS THAT WOULD LEAVE HOLES IN MY PANELS?

This forum is awesome. I have learned so much about my car!
I will be here for a long time.
I especially feel better about my bad gas mileage.
(13/16)900miles

Thanks everyone:D

Brother Voodoo did a nice job on debadging his RX-8. Check out his post; I believe he said that three of the badges have posts -- the "M" on the front and back and the "mazda" badge as well. I also seem to recall that he said he paid $500 to paint the holes.

Yep, that's correct, only the "RX 8" badge is glued on, and the other 3 have posts.

Man, that just sucks the "Mazda" on the back has pins.

I was hoping this afternoon to remove the "RX-8" and "Mazda" from the trunk lid.

Sorry, had to vent.

Oh well...

Well, you can have them removed, you'll just have to either live with the holes, or pay to have them filled and painted. :D

Thanks for the pic. I kinda agre with mikeb on having Mazdaspeed parts before I did something like that; and since I don't...

BTW, does that tag have the pins? Or is it attached just with adhesive? Thanks.

I wouldn't mind just removing the flying M logos on front and back. I think it is too busy as it is right now. My question is what size diameter are the posts? Are they about 1/8 inch? smaller? larger? Please let me know.

It's funny.. coz it looks like a MazdaSpeed wing for the FD... but it's mounted backwards!!

I have the MS GT-C wing... I think it's the same.. (mounted the right way.. LOL)

310guy, the mazda speed tag's with adhesive. The original tag was a straight word, i had to break it so that i can hide the holes.

As for the size, its about 1-1.5cm (guesstimating). Cant realli remember, did it a while back. Hope dis helps...

Jayspec7, its a STI replica. Sure is mounted the right way :D. But your pic is tempting me to see how it looks like when i flip it over.... Hmmm....

So the holes are off-set from each other? One is higher than the other?

Thanks for any info.

The only one without holes is the Mazda. The rest will leave holes.

Yes you can remove the Mazda emblem. Do a search on debadging the 8 and verify.

There are holes for the flying "M" logo (front and back) as well as the word "Mazda" on the trunk. In fact, the holes from Mazda are not even aligned in a row together. The left one is actually higher than the middle and right one. That's completed retarded for Mazda to do something like that. If they were all in a row (aligned together) you could remove the Mazda and cover them with some other type of emblem or badge.

The ONLY one that does not have holes is "RX-8" on the trunk.
