Arhgghghghgh i hate body shops

Seriously i am about to bug out, I finally found a body shop that I hear does good work and send my car to them (It got hit in the side, about $2700 worth of damage, and a body kit put on). The guy is charging me $1000 to put on the body kit, and he's charging the insurance company $2700 to fix the rear left door.

So that's $3700 worth of business minimum. I brought the car to this place (which is a REPUTABLE place) on the 23rd of March. The guy said that the car would hopefully be done by the weekend but at the latest it would be done by monday the following week. Now its freaking April 3rd and he's telling me that it *might* be done by Tuesday if im ******* lucky.

I have a right to be furious right??? You don't quote someone 1 week and turn it into a 3 week job, I'm seriously on the verge of just calling/flipping out on them and asking for a reduced price cause this is utter bullshit. Before i do though i just have to ask is it normal to be DICKED around like this by body shops? As in should i always expect a body shop to be like this? Should i have expected to wait this ******* long?

This is not to mention that they KNEW my car was coming in for weeks ahead of time as in back in february THEY scheduled it for the 23rd of march ........ i've just had a bad day.

While you may be over reacting alittle bit, the bodyshop should be a place of proffessionalism and courtesy, I wonder if alot of your statements are due to frustration or if they are geniune,.
A good body shop is indeed hard to find and once you do find one you realize how shitty other places are, Ive been fortunate enough to find one where the owner treats you like your his only customer, acts in a friendly and proffessional manner is always under his qoute and ahead of schedule on delivery and if there is any problem he will fix it at his own cost.
So its really hard to tell from you languauge wether or not your being screwed...
But one thing with this kind of work, every job is different and its really hard to grasp the scope of work unless you have experience of what needs to be done,,, It could two scenarios, on one hand you could be getting screwed on the other your bodykit may need extra work due to a number of reasons, ie bad replica, poor fitment, poor quality of material, etc etc...

This is every bodyshop on the planet,

If you take it in for something simple and tell them you need it in two days, it will take a month, if you take it in and tell them you don't need it for 6 months, they will still start the day before you want it and then delay it by an extra month...

:D

I took my car in on the 1st march and i am still waiting for it back... patience, and walking is my life till my car is back.

A few things you need to consider:

1. The body shop has other jobs besides yours. Auto body repair is not an exact science - you cannot always determine with 100% accuracy how long each job is going to take. It is very extremely possible that some other car they were already working on when you brought yours in took longer than expected. They only have a certain number of employees and garage space to do the work. So yours might have waited.
2. If they need to order parts to fix your car it isn't their fault if the supplier takes forever, the shipper screws something up, and/or the original part is damage in shipping and they need to request another.
3. Once they started work on your car they might have found something else that needs repair and they are waiting on approval from the insurance company.
4. Paint job #1 might have sucked and they had to sand and repaint – wouldn’t you rather get it back right the first time than have to bitch about it later?

i sent my ms front, rear, and a bunch of custom made pieces to a shop to be painted about a month ago. the shop today says ''it will be done monday'' lol. this is what they do. yes it's frustrating but if you went into it like me, knowing that a week job would turn into 4, you get used to it. the most important thing is that they do a good job. remember that.
