Q about injection oil pump removal.

When you guys switch over to pre-mix, do you remove the injection pump? If so, how to you prevent the ECU from going into limp-mode?

We have been advising people not to do so for years.

There may be some evidence of a way to avoid OMP injection without dramatically shortening the engine's life, but until that is solidified, we won't be making that recommendation.

The people that delete the OMP for engine swaps usually delete the ECU with it.
The cars that keep the ECU but delete the OMP usually leave it plugged in, and just tied out of the way. Not much else you can do.

Ok. I'm doing a swap and keeping the ECU. I was wondering if anyone found a solution yet besides tucking it out of the way. Once I get it up and running I'll see if I can find a way to fake the signal.

If you do a swap and want to use the DBW throttle you will need to keep rhe OMP plugged in. If you dont...you dont need it to keep everything functional

If one has concerns about injection volume there are ways to address that.
Yup, i have ideas. Only one 'legitimate' one that i can think of. The rest are opinions that are best not aired.

I'm keeping the stock ECU as a CANBUS interface and for the throttle/idle control.

Then you will need to keep the OMP...or figure out the electronics the ECU needs to be happy

So far it looks like that's my only option for now. I need to do some more sensor logging once it's running before I'll know if I can fake the signal. It shouldn't be too hard. I think the ECU sweeps the stepper (to calibrate or verify function) when the key is turned on. Simulating the load of the stepper is easy with just resistors but translating the step pulses into resistance might be a little harder. I see an MCU and code getting involved.

You can just reverse the pistons inside to keep it from pumping engine oil from the crankcase. The PCM will still think it is functioning properly and not engage limp mode.

Or, since it's a swap, be like a normal person and leave it plugged in, zip tied to a support bar.
