S1 OFF: ~94C
S2 ON : ~97C
S2 OFF: ~94C
S3 ON: ~102C
S3 OFF: ~98.7
S4 ON: ~109.6C
S4 OFF: ~106.7C

The expression for calculating the trendline of my coolant to voltage graph is :

y = -0.7544x5 + 10.127x4 - 52.966x3 + 135.17x2 - 191.66x + 172.91

where 'x' is the voltage. (yay math)
So I just wanted to follow up on this:

S1, S3, and S4 work as designed (low, medium, high).

Unfortunately it doesn't look like S2 does anything, and neither one of the 4 affect the fan turn on after you shut the car off . Gunna send epifan a note to see if he has any ideas.

I think S1 & S2 means Fan 1 and 2.

then S3 means Mid speed, S4 is high speed

I'm not 100% sure about the S2 but it seems logical as they both have the same on/off temp.

as for Fan on after car shut off temp, it should depend on S4. I think. it probably have a setting somewhere else, but based on the Series 1 Rx8 Fan settings, its probably same as High speed mode, which is S4.

So from listening and playing with mazdaspeed tunes, I have learned that you can add in more break points on the maf cal. the mazdaspeed guys like to use 5-6 break points while we have 3 are there any parameters in the mazdaedit program to add in break points?

LMAO!!!

okay so there are break points in the maf cal, where the LTFT is learned. currently they are
0-9g/s.
10-20g/s
21-430g/s

so 2 break points. 10, 20. that gives us 3 zones

the mazdaspeed 3/6 have settings where you can set the break point and create up to 6 break points, the commen used break points they use are 5.7, 18, 30, 80, 120, 150. this gives them 7 learning zones for LTFT. should be noted they max at 384 or so.

was wondering if you have seen anything like this in the mazdaedit software.

the way I tested was to simply put the turn on temp real low. s1 had both fans going at low speed. and neither one of them affected the turn on temp for when the car is off. I set s4 low and when the car was running those fans were roaring lol....shut car off and they stayed off

So just to go off topic a little and back to something that Brettus brought up previously. Is everyone aware with MazdaEdit that your initial purchase is locked to both the Tactrix AND your Windows Installation. So if your Tactrix dies OR you reinstall Windows you are SOL.

I bought the Pro version over 12 months ago and have just gotten a new laptop only to find I have to pay $250 in order to use the software again.

I recall epifan telling me that he would transfer the license if requested. I suspect he has a process the null and voids the prior key that you have to follow.

That and the challenge of getting a hold of this single person is why I haven't jumped on board. I mean one day he could just have a life crisis and be done....

That's because the software has a "250 yearly support fee"

if you keep paying, he will be more than happy to transfer your license. you can break 2 zillion laptops/tactix and its gonna be fine

but if your license is already a year old and u didn't pay anything, then you found out your laptop/tactix stops working ... well u get the idea.

I think it has to match all conditions before the fan will come on after shut off.

so if you set S4 temp to say, 80 Celsius, but then your S1/S2/S3 is anything higher, nothing will happen.

I don't have a S2 for me to test right now, but how about this? try to flash the ECU back to stock, heat it up until like 100 Celsius. then shut it down (fan shouldn't come on), flash the thing to some settings like 81/81/84/90 and see what happens.

I kow and thats my issue, I bought the full/Pro version at close to $1,000 and now I basically cant use it because I rebuilt my laptop. I have to pay $250 more. Seriously, thats a nasty license agreement.

I agree ... plus when you buy the software , there is no indication that there will be more fees .

Is there a 'support fee' for the personal version as well ?

Well, i still have about 1/2 yr left on my software, i probably gonna get another laptop with a bigger screen before the year support ends. Just to avoid paying that fee

Yeah, kinda sucks that the author didnt say anything about the support fee thing. He probably gonna get sue if he is in the us, but oh well.

Dunno about the personal version. It probably has the same fee but cheaper?

So I gave the fan temps another shot ... I kept the shape of the curve, just lowered the temps so that basically you are at HIGH at 165F ... ran the car for a min ... shut off ... no fan on .
