Brett, are the tables numbered in MazdaEdit like they are in PT?

There must be a S2 owner out there prepared to pony up with a few hundred ,take a small risk ,and buy the personal edition. If some of those guys knew how much we S1 owners had spent on tuning solutions over the years they would stop faffing about and take a punt on this !

thanks for the clarification
I'd be willing to work with an S2 owner on the tuning if they're willing to take the risk on the sioftware. As mentioned by others earlier, I don't have an S2 nor am I interested in playing tuner-for-hire in general so there's no reason for me to go there otherwise. I would be willing to help someone else out if possible though. . |

yes but not the same number for the same map :( |

Not sure why no one else has taken the plunge here from the S2 perspective, but I would be willing to shell out the money. Would be far cheaper than snagging an adaptronic for basic tuning.

it sounds like at a minimum the maps aren't defined and we (or at least "I") currently don't know if the S2 maps are configured like the S1, which could potentially be a guessing the map game if they're not
If this can help me tweak dwell times on the d585's to make the most out of them, it would be well worth it. (also would be sweet if we can find a way to mask pid's like the cobb does... morals aside). |
as long as you understand that there's a possibility that you might not be able to decipher the maps. I would hope that most of them are obvious, just won't know until we dive in.

yup, understood, i dont mind biting the bullet ... better than sitting around praying to some magical gods that a magic tuning solution comes out of no where lol

hi guys
i've just bought mazdaedit, and the openport. (wish me luck) does anyone have a log config .txt file for logging with the openport? |
Am picking this up shortly. I understand I need the Tactrix Openport 2.0. Just wanted to check in with those currently using this, are there any adapters or anything else I need?
Team - saw your offer and since we are local to each other would be happy to accept any assistance. |
Tactrix is all you need.

I'm not sure that I explained myself properly re this . It will have additional map access when someone(like myself) finds these additional maps defines them and coerces Epifan to include them in his base definitions.
Epifan is not a tuner and will not be doing any work on this himself. I currently have all the maps I need but had some issues with Epifan in trying to get it done at his end because when he sent me an update (to fix another issue) it wiped out all the previous 2 days work I had done on definitions. At that point I got pissed off and never got around to re-doing it (life got in the way). So the answer is - if you want extra definitions you may well have to find the maps yourself . Also : There must be a S2 owner out there prepared to pony up with a few hundred ,take a small risk ,and buy the personal edition. If some of those guys knew how much we S1 owners had spent on tuning solutions over the years they would stop faffing about and take a punt on this ! As some of you may recall, we have been able to reflash the first and second gen ecus, using the Piasini serial suite and files provided from Italy. While we were able to see some gains with that setup, I was not convinced that it was the idea way to do things, and did not pursue it. So spring forward to now; first, we tune almost all the Mazdas, from the MX5 to the DISI in the Mazdaspeed 3, and we are the official calibrator for the MX5 playboy cup race series. I say most, because I do not specialize in rotaries, I have done a few over the years as we are a Cobb ProTuner shop also. How does this effect you guys; well we have had MazdaEdit here in the shop for quite a while, and yes it's a pro version. I would be more than happy to satisfy everyone's curiosity about the gen 2, if you like. I will tell you this ahead of time; the gen two ecu is exactly the same hardware the NC2 MX 5 uses, and we have had a great deal of success with them. So I know it will read and write the ROM. It's simply a matter of defining the tables. Epifan has quite a few of the calibration files with some of the tables defined, and finding the rest are not that difficult, if you know what to look for. So here is my suggestion; if anyone, or multiple anyones would like to swing by the shop one day, I will be happy to dump the ROM image, and look thru the bin. I could then make a clone of the original ecu( yes we do that on the IMMO cars), and flash something so you guys would know if it works. Feel free to ring me at the shop if anyone is interested 678.488.1011 |
Well there's a great opportunity. New Braunfels is quite the drive, but will schedule something with them.
|
New Braunfels is right up the street from us, I will point tbk (R3 owner) to this thread.

Yeah, boost leaks had/have me running in the 10.0's AFR wise which was causing spark blow out. It's better now than it was, I found one small leak but I think I still have a leak somewhere since it is still running really rich. I am building a real boost leak tester this weekend to find out for sure so hopefully we get it sorted and get the tune dialed in correctly this weekend.
That Mazda 2 was really clean. |
