Although i don't see anywhere in ME that allows use of that info .......

slash128 09-15-2013 03:25 PM

My thought was let it log to the SD card on the OP, not using ME.

Those RS232 to USB converters can cause problems, especially if its a cheap one.
Might be worth trying another one if you can get your hands on one.

Do you have one ? Maybe we can try it next time you are down .......

Rotaman 09-15-2013 07:45 PM

Hi Brett
Yes I do have one, as I bought one some years ago for a Sony stereo unit I have.
I'm happy to bring it down with me if you like, but I'm not sure when that will be.
If you would like it soon, then I can mail it down to you if you like.
Just let me what suits you.

Well - it's not something i really need .... but would be cool to see if it works for the sake of the guys interested in this .
The one i have is a 'Keyspan' . It yours is the same probably no point sending it.....

Rotaman 09-15-2013 11:10 PM

I had a look at the keyspan product and it looks very similar to the one I have, but mine is a different brand, so you probably right, if yours didn't work, then mine probably won't make much difference.
Never mind.

Brettus, Will the MAF scale Allow you to set it over 5 volts? Access tuner race has a max voltage of 5v.

paimon.soror 10-16-2013 03:29 PM

it will not

Brettus 10-16-2013 05:07 PM

Bugger ....................

Pretty sure I can get epifan to make it possible - but that doesn't help you .

I'm real close to upgrading. I just haven't decided if I want to spend the extra money on pro or not. I don't need it, but the map description editor would be nice.

What's your thought on that brettus? Does Epifan upgrade the descriptions as people find them?

Brettus 10-16-2013 06:03 PM

You can upgrade the descriptions yourself .

Dunno if it is really worth it - unless you have some mates with 8s . Then it def. is because you can use it on multiple 8s.

logalinipoo 10-16-2013 07:30 PM

The personal edition says that you can not edit the map descriptions.

Correct you cannot. Btw I found something the other day, just want to document it here. When you first fire up MazdaEdit's logger, you will notice that you have a subset of loggable pids. If you want to see ALL PIDs, you need to uncheck an option. I.e. I needed to log both MAFv and MAF Rate, and couldn't find MAF Rate until I did this.

logalinipoo 10-16-2013 07:50 PM

I saw that the tactrix will take a Micro SD and log. Does that work with Mazdaedit?

Yes it does. You only have to copy data log config file with name logcfg.txt to SD root directory.
I attached you my locfg.txt that works really good.

This config file will generate one log file each time you start/stop the car, and you can open it on Mazda Edit -> File -> Open Log File option.

Do you get correct values for RPM? I tried it back in June on an S2 and I don't get a reasonable value for RPM (it comes out as 81xx).

Also, any idea how to record MAF voltage rather than calculated g/s? That would actually be more convenient for tuning if we can figure it out.

Has anyone tried logging mode 22 pids with the openport?

Maybe try putting this entry in logcfg.txt:
Code:

paramname=MAF_Volts
mode=0x22
paramid=0x1177
databits=16
scalingrpn=x,0.01,*

I'm guessing a bit on the scaling.

Attached is an excel sheet with a list of them that may be correct in places. ;)

paimon.soror 10-17-2013 03:20 PM

The respective formula for MAFv:

oltmann 10-17-2013 04:04 PM

Thanks, it was wrong in the first example, so I checked a rom and the scaling there is:

Code:

paramname=MAF_Volts
mode=0x22
paramid=0x1177
databits=16
scalingrpn=x,0.00024414062,*

it's really annoying when people post zip files instead of something that can be viewed in the thread. just sayin' :)

Good find - I have been able to log maf g/s all along but only after asking epifan to make it so for me .

paimon.soror 10-26-2013 12:18 PM

What are you using to get the injector duty cycle? I don't see it as an available parameter so I am wondering if I need to get it as a function of the injector timing and pulse width params.

Have not been able to get those . Did ask for it once but didn't chase it up.

So did anyone figure out if ME can log aftermarket AFR data?

99.9 % sure that it can - just haven't managed to get a usb interface to work and prove it 100% .
