Are future units incorporating this mod?

Rx-8 friend or CZ, please respond.

Thanks.
So is removing the caps the official fix or not? Any impact on maps? Future board redesign?

My unit is still sitting in its box in my living room until I know it's safe to install and use.

My low RPM feels fine. I'm wondering if perhaps your ignition advance is too agressive down low. I know when the ignition advance and the AFR was too high for me at the high rpm ranges my car lugs. The car just shot alot of fuel into the engine and I lose a lot of power. Check out my logged data.

I don't know what it is just brainstorming. How low are we talking about? <3500rpm?

and when I graph it in excel, it uses them as plots, I don't know how to assign a col as x/y.
Set the RPM to x-axis and be sure to change your sig figs so there are no decimals. On y-axis set that to Ignition Advance and Throttle. Highlight the AFR data points, right click and format the data points. In the "Axis" tab select the "secondary axis" option. After doing that, ok yourself out of that window. This way you can see both the AFR, Ignition Advance, and Throttle Position data all in one plot.

One advice use only data with increasing RPMs, otherwise you get strange loops.

Jason,

are you seriously running mid 11's on your AFR? That really rich. The lowest AFR I ran was 12.05.

I wish I didnt sound so lame, but I havent used Excell to chart anything in years, so pretend I'm a retard (I am) and how would I go about it step by step :D

Also, Epi, I remembered reading someplace that the emanage uses the values from the first set of cells for ignition control all the way down to 0RPM. So I zeroed out the first set of cells at 4000RPM on the map and my lugging is gone.

First, the unit seems to reflect the timing from the first set of cells all the way down to 0 RPM. So it appears we DO adjust below 4000 RPM. The fix is to zero out the first set of timing cells. I don't think it does this with fuel.

Second, if you're getting poor response (lower power than you got stock) below 4000-5000 RPM, try the modification in the thread on the coil fix (cap removal - ensure you have two diodes in series to each coil as per the diagrams posted in that thread).

Oh, and yes, the fix was tested for several weeks. By several owners in several different cars. That's one reason for the delay in posting.
I think that's probably as difinitive an answer as we're gonna get from CZ & Friend. CZ hasn't posted in this forum for eons now. RX-8 Friend has once again taken a long leave of absence too. I don't get it, but I'm not them, so...

That's something! The quote I just posted from RX-8 Friend mentions the "cells" thing you just brought-up. Wow. I must be psychic! Yeah, right.

Try using the charting wizard in Excel (yeah, you don't even know how to spell Excel :p ). If at first you don't succeed, try, try again...

I managed to get a chart with X and Y, but it's still a far cry from looking like yours. Can you email me your xls file?

Yes... and my car has gone down from 18 mpg to 16 mpg. I wonder if the ECU learned to be a gas hog.

I bought one. Got it in yesterday, and my new CZ comes in this afternoon

How the hell did you get perfect 80% Throttle position?! Maybe you should recalibrate your throttle setting on the support tool.

BTW
Try this
1. Put all your values on one chart
2. Select the AFR points and right click to open up the menu
3. Go down to format
4. in the "Axis" tab select secondary axis.

The 80% throttle is wrong, the reason I was able to hold it at that value was because the throttle was depressed all the way

jason, did you get the excel work book i sent you?

if you reimport the new logs under those same headings, it will modify the chart

genom - it that 4000 true rpm or 1/2 rpm? you just entered 0 into the first cell?

Thats with a true RPM map. The first set of cells only had like a 5 in 2 or 3 of them, so I zeroed those out and presto!

Thanks Magic! I fuinally understood how ya did that :D Muchas gracias!

I am having the problem, but I have got rid of some of it by removing a little bit of advance at low RPMs. I noticed that I my RPMs went down even though I was 100% rel throttle, and that the ECU had retarded timing at those points.

I am hesitant to remove too much timing though, because it seems to make a pretty noticable difference.

I tuned that. I was too aggressive the AFR map....I'm close though, I can taste it. :o

Glad to help!

Now about those first set of cells. What are you talking about? Is it ignition map or is it AFR?

Can you give me an idea of what the ignition map RPM settings are like and the Airflow Voltages? I'm starting a new map, the CZ map got scrambled so I lost all my settings.

to do the cool excel graphs click on insert->chart-> XY (scatter) -> (pick a style) -> Next -> series tab -> add -> give a name -> insert x value range -> insert y value range ->[add again for next graph and repeat for name, x, y] -> then next

for a secondary axis, right click on the series on the graph you want -> format data series -> click on axis tab -> select secondary axis

I just installed my CZ tonight, which came from the group buy #2.

I made sure the unit was turned on, and went out with the canscan to test (see attached graph). The results look almost the same as the previous graph I posted here, basically I don't see any changes at all.

I tried flipping the on/off switch off, then on, when it turns on, the car hesitates for a split second, so I'm pretty sure it's seeing it.

The left light glows green, the right light glows a solid amber when the car is on, but not started. When started, the right light flashes amber.

So I hook up the usb cable to my laptop, install the cable drivers that were on the emanage cd, and the emanage software. No matter what com port I select, the emanage software can't see the car. The usb cable is listed as "usb serial converter" in device settings, and I don't see any way to set the com port used.

Does anyone have any idea how to get the emanage software to see the car, and why the cz 1.1 doesn't appear to do anything at all on my car?
