It won't work on European RX-8s.
USA only.

Or, he can look at a different re-flashing tool and tuning software that supports ATs.

There are a number of others coming out.

From Cobb's site this looks to apply a little further to the North of the US as well

"Please Note: This package will only work with North American Mazda RX-8's."

I'm liking what I've been hearing about this, Something to think of for the spring.

I was being facetious.
The AP will support the 4-port presently.

MM, it's still a ways away, but would it be a worth it to run the int-x (base map for esmeril kit) until we can have a tune done for the accessport?

When you plug in the AccessPORT, it looks for one of the supported models (at this time, its only USDM '04, '05 & '06/'07 M/T models).
If it doesn't find a match, it won't install.

hmmm :surely it can't be a biggie for them to make it recognise other models . Or are they just playing conservative while the product is new ?

It requires the presence of a PCM download from the target model in the firmware.
I think if Cobb had access to a vehicle with the target market PCM, they could make it happen.
However, that is not a simple task.

they would only need the PCM (not the whole car) wouldn't they ?

I've been working with MazdaManiac on N/A custom tunes. I must say I'm really impressed with the ease that this device works. It takes about 2 minutes to completly flash the car but it's so easy it's sick.

We ran into a little trouble with the MAF calibration but hopefully COBB can resolve the issues. Not sure if it's an issue with the software or the PCM.

So far I'm totally sold. It's a great device and so easy a caveman can use it.
