Acceleration

Hi everybody
Maybe this is just me, but has enybody else felt that on full acceleration through the gears :D the revs rise at the same speed regardless if in 1st 2nd or 3rd.
Coming from a motorcycling background, I know that Susuki decreased power in 1st & 2nd gear on there insainley fast GSX 1000cc superbike to help avoid fliping the thing.
Just a thought but is it possible that Mazda have interfeard with the ECU to make it more user friendly.

Me Too!!!!

Man! That's what happened to me! - Flipped my 8 due to over powered in 1st gear. It sure was weird when the front end lifted like that and all I could see was sky.

You'd think Canzoomer would have written in the appropriate A/F mixitures to avoid this - Dooo'h!!!

j/k

...and CZ - great job; I grin all the time from 5k on up!

Stage 1.3 solves this full power to each gear problem. QuantumTheory08, I'm a bit disapointed in you. Next time do a search on the TECH forum.

RX8Ian, I think what you are describing is characteristic of the rotary engine. That's just the way it revs... and ain't it sweet! :D

I was trying that out today on the highway during rushhour. You have to really practice to get good at it. I was riding a wheelie for about 1/2 a mile, you should have seen the look on everyone elses face. It was priceless.

Try the front flip it esier but messes up your car a little more. Get you car on two wheels, nose up. Then steer into oncoming traffic and clip the car in front of you. You can almost do three front flips. I have only gone two and a half. I think i might have to get my sunroof replaced along with another paint job.

Not quite. Mercedes' CLR did a series of backflips as a result of its aerodynamics at high speed. The car became an airfoil. If you look at a CLR (as with most of its competitors), its profile resembles a wing. Lift underneath the flat bottom of the car was so significant that it literally flipped the car at speed. Unlike the wings on some Civics, the wings on these cars DO create a great deal of downforce on the back of the car.

Sounds like the result of gearing ratios.

It was some kid looking at the world's largest Cheeto.

I changed it so it would be more representative of the board...not sure Jim Carey had the 8 (or photoediting) in mind at the time though. :D
