how long is the wait on stage I?

Just curious,

How long is the wait on stage I? I need to gauge if I should buy from my local source at a higher price or wait for one directly from canzoomers. I plan on taking this to the track to compare trap speed and performance to my baseline on the stock car.

thanks!

PS. I know there are 10,000 threads out there, but I'm unsure where thread is that talks about the wait time.

zerobanger,

What area do you live in. I am planning on trying to get a group oreder going. P/M me and let me know if you are interested. My brother and I are thinking about getting a shop going to work on the cars as well.

93,

I'm not worried about a group buy to be honest. I'd pay his retail price. I'm just curious if I go to his website and order today, approx how long before I receive it.

I live in the bay area. Thanks!

I ordered mine on the 10th of Jan. I just emailed him last week and he said there were 48 more to go so that put me at 2 weeks. I should have it by the 10th of Feb. I would say then about a month.

All this talk about Stage 2 is fine, but I'm really beginning to lose my patience waiting for Stage 1. I've emailed Rachel & Maurice a couple of times to check my shipping status since I ordered back at the end of December, and the answer I've gotten has gone from "shipping next week" the first two times (there are two *different* "next weeks" involved) to "some of the parts are delayed but it should be soon" the last time.

I understand that they have had no control over delays in parts shipping from overseas, and I've been extremely patient (considering I plunked down $500 CASH through PayPal, not a credit card), but I think those of us who are still waiting deserve at least a realistic status update and estimate.

Thanks for listening.

When we get the parts (still not here ) it should only take a few weeks to fill most of the early orders. We expect them this week. Shipping "in volume" begins a few days after they get here. These kinds of delays are inevitable and are why Maurice didn't want people to pay in advance. They (rightfully) get nervous. Please accept our appologies for the delays. I have used up all the parts we have here (scrounging even), to fill as many orders as possible. Now we just wait for the parts.

While Maurice wants stage 2 sooner, I suspect it will be summer before it's shipping. We have to build it and test it for a few months to be comfortable with reliability. This is rather hard to do in our harsh winter climate. It has to be much more "accurate" than stage 1, as it's closer to the edge. I have just finished the first prototype box (Maurice is sending the Stage 1 from his car to a customer so the prototype stage 2 box will replace it). The Stage 2 unit looks like the stage 1, there is just more "stuff" in it.

As with Stage 1, some of our more knowledgeable customers will be invited to participate. Wideband O2 and knock sensors would be a good idea for this.

Ah, so some end of December orders havn't been filled yet? I had faxed my order in around the 30 or 31st and confirmed it had been received.
However, havn't seen any info about it shipping (nor had my credit card charged yet). I've been suspecting maybe my order was lost.

I was charged on Jan 13th... No word on when mine is going to ship either. I sent 2 messages asking, but no replies. I'm kinda bummed, but still have my fingers crossed its coming soon.

I was also charged on 12/13. I e-mailed Canzoomer last Friday at 11:30am and got a reply 1:40pm that day. I must have been lucky.

It looks like Chinese New Year really screwed with his schedule. He said that the parts have shipped from China and he expects them by Monday. He's got 200 partially assembled units in his shop. I was approximately #20 on his ship list, so you can't be too far off that number.

That's good to hear, I've been waiting since December too. I guess we just have to hang in there.

Last I read from Maurice, his personal unit is going to some guy in Ohio, Oh yea, that must be you

I'll sit back and wait, although he did e-mail me today and says it will ship as soon as those mystery parts finally get in.

Yeah, he was going to ship me his own unit. It was a nice gesture, but I told him I'd wait a little longer. I was anxious, but I didn't want him to have to pull his own Stage 1 to send it to me. The fact that he offered to do that was nice and it prompted me to "hang in there" a little longer.

Thanks for the update, RX-8 Friend. A little communication and reassurance goes a long way.

Good grief. What I suggest is that those of you who can't seem to sit still and be patient regarding your order...to go out and buy yourself a video-game system or some other item to busy you and take up all that free time you have until Maurice has a chance to get around to responding to you.

The guy has a job, a family,...and as some of us hope...gets a little personal time for himself amidst all this.

Be patient. There are others of us waiting for orders, but we certainly don't have to email Maurice thrice in one week.

Here is an email I got from CZ yesterday (2/17) -- I know its hard to be patient but I also appreciate the effort and challenges CZ has in delivering this to market.

edit: I originally emailed CZ to get on the list on 11/08/03 and turned in the order form on 12/23/03

Hi Jeff.
As discussed we ran into some parts delays, have now surmounted them, and are building again.

Some good news about Stage2 is that the units we are now building do not differ in hardware between Stage1 and Stage2, and that the ability to upgrade from one to the next will soon become a software upgrade.

The exhaust requirement for Stage2 will soon be covered by our new exhaust mid-pipe units being made for us by Random Technology. These will start shipping to customers as of March 1st.

Thanks for writing!

I ordered Jan 8th, emailed him for the first time last week, he told me 38 more till mine. In the meantime I did the "psychosymatic" mod of turning the DSC/TSC fully off and I feel like there is more power there (no dyno, no GTech just my butt). This is being discussed in another thread around here somewhere.

Ummm... I got an email from Maurice on 1/26 telling me that I was 34th on the current list and that at the current build rate he thought I should see it sometime next week. I'm still PATIENTLY waiting.

I may be missing something, but how do you turn the DSC "fully" off. Don't you just press the button? Fill me in, please?

Hold the button in for 5 seconds and TSC turns off also...

You'll know it is fully off because the little car with the squiggly (tech term) lines stays lit. You can not turn it back on without shutting your car off. But honestly I didn't realize how "invasive" the traction system was until I started driving around with it off. If you thought the car was fun before now it is an absolute blast IMHO.
