Apparently the intake comes with built in dry ice....

This thread is for people with the greddy (hot air) intake on their turbo cars, who want a CAI.

You can make one from home depot stuff, or you can just get the AEM CAI and slap it on.

So many people are sayin that intakes for this car a rip off since it doesnt give good power anyway. I just wanna quick fix for the sound since I know every car is originally designed to make the car as quiet as possible... =/

do a search for the "pull the fins and a single screen" thread. If I do any intake mods, it'll probably be the screen pull. If we're talking FI, then please ignore everything I just typed.

Is there any advantage to doing this instead of just removing the VFAD and plastic walls in the stock intake and dropping in a K&N filter?

I already did the walls in my intake and plan on removing the VFAD this weekend. While I have the bumper off I figured I would do this if it would be significantly more beneficial than just dropping in a K&N filter.

if you're NA, then there isn't any real advantage.

If you're turbo with the greddy kit, then a CAI would help quite a bit.

bumps of old threads shouldn't be discouraged. it beats the hell out of new threads of the same topic (not searching)

How is a CAI going to make ANY significant difference with a Turbo setup, except for saving space.

Not that I want to single you out mysql101, but I've read this many times on the forums here.

Your taking air, then compressing the "****" out of it, it gets warm, then you pass it through an intercooler to cool it down some, THEN it goes into the engine.

How is starting off with a few degrees C cooler air going to make any significant difference?

I am thinking of doing this, and just in the planning stages right now. How did you go about attaching the MAF sensor to the aluminum piping, did u just pick a place, drill a couple of holes and attach it? I dunno what the MAF sensor needs (exposure to the passing air, or just sitting on top of the pipe), in order to function correctly. Any help with how to attach it to the aluminum pipe would be greatly appreciated.

just installed my own version of this. I modified the stock intake piping and basically just attached a high performance air filter to the top/back of the air filter box, while removing the bottom/front of it. Feels a bit faster, and def sounds a lot better...Only thing to do now, is remove all the other crap that was part of the stock intake system out of the bumper, but we'll save that for another day after i learn how to take off the front bumper

All i have to say after readin all of this is

A) this seems pointless
B) you spent how much on a turbo kit and they didn't make it this way from the get-go because why?
C) this is even more pointless if yu are N/A. Do not do it. It messes up the MAF readings.
D) it's still fun to mod cars and at least a thread like this does exist
