Stock tires are rated too 168 mph / 270 km/h. So you would be fine. Assuming you don't go flying off the road. No 150 was not the intended design limit. The drag limit is ~165 ish supposedly.

My top speed has a story with it. 117 mph in the afternoon on I64 between Frankfort and Louisville KY.

Here is the story: Was playing back and forth with a BMW 525; He blew by me doing about 90 , I blew by him at 110 plus still increasing speed. Radar detector did a single chirp. Got slowed down to 73 very quickly, Trooper comes rolling in opposite direction. A old Chevy Blazer goes by us maybe doing 80 - 85 MPH. 3 minutes later the trooper rolls up beside me and then past me. Pulls over the blazer. LOL Almost got me. That would have been an expensive one.

OK before you go mashing him let me tell you, I have in my RX8 W/O a reflash have on the delaware stretch of I-95 with my wife next to me and on the *** of a C5 corevette when pulling out of the molly pitcher rest stop at like 1am
DID hit 162MPH. At that point I said the hell with it and backed off as the corvette ran to about 170ish( estimating) then backed down himself.
It was a good enough showing to get the headlight blink and the impressed wave from the guy in the corvette.
Believe me when they say that the RX8 is drag limited to something like 155MPH.
I can tell you I don't buy it.

Before anybody calls B.S. get enough ***** to prove me wrong. I did it first hand exsperience. RPM's just over 8k in 6th gear. 162

Anyone in this thread using an aftermarket tach and using gear ratios to calc a speed or just trusting the stock tach/speedo? Does this thread serve any purpose anyway? Unless you have enough work under the hood to redline 6th, all these top speed runs are done on long straight roads where how fast you are going is merely a function of .......well.... to avoid insult I'll just end it there.

 

Care to choose one? This week or next week?

well whenever the body shop gives me my 8 back smokey.........they told me earlier last week that it was gonna be fri, n now mon it has to go to mazda to have the airbags reprogrammed, so it will be hopefully tues.........so by the end of the week i should have one

Thats what I was thinking at first too... Most tires are rated at 270km/h so the person going faster than that would have to get them changed.

Btw I wonder what tires could over that limit???
