^ This is not specific to this car. ALL cars are like that. Just look at the top speed run of the Bugatti Veyron, it takes it forever to cover the last thrid of the way to it's top speed.

This also hold true for ALL vehicles car, train, plane, boat, submarine, etc.

ok fine im makin a vegas run in less then 2 months im sorry but speedo will be up n runnin as will my camera, 165 mph and camera are ready to go whos ready to see what this rx8 can do short of dyno vid clips top speed.

I'm sure I'll get people saying no way to this speed, but conditions were perfect....156 mph in an '04 stock manual transmission. I had about ten miles of perfectly straight highway with a slight downgrade and the wind to my back. I reached 156mph in 6th gear right about 8200 rpm. May have gotten a notch or two hire but the road started to curve ahead so I let off. I was challenged by a Mustang 5.0. He fell back at about 140 mph.

And yes, there was a passenger in my car who witnessed this all.

 

Would having DSC/TCS on or off affect the top speed at all? Do you think the car would know that it has traction control off and could be more prone to spinning out or wrecking and therefore keep the speed down? Just a thought

its cool i used to get kinda pissed when i would hear jedi n eviltwinkie n smokey runnin there mouth, now i just think its funny as ****......but before i make my trip to vegas..... i gotta get the stock head unit replaced so i can get the a/c working.........no way in hell im goin to vegas in middle of summer with no working a/c to hell with that........so im findin out soon when its gonna be fixed.

 

leave the A/C off if you're going for max speed. If anything, you should run the heater FULL blast to get some of that hot air out...

that is a good point jedi, but if i make the trip during the day then i cant blast the heater itll be a miserable yet awesome drive.........but judgin by the fact that the heat blows out slightly even when its turned to off.........but yea once i get that fixed im sensin there might be a lawsuit with myself n my insurance company becuz there tryin to tell me my a/c not workin isnt accident related, when prior to the accident it blew 40 degrees out the vent.........

Only the Mazdaspeed 8 is capable of such speeds.
