What is the most I can gain with bolt on parts/NO FI

I recently have goten a o6 Shinka and have added the normal things such as MS rear spoiler, MS Cold air intake, MS sports exhaust, MS side shirts front and rear strut bar braces and a few more appearence pieces. I have been doing alot of searchs regaurding my options from wheels, Short shifters, springs, pulleys, flywheels, clutches, sways and EMS systems ect.... It seems that there is alot of strong opinions about some of these options and I find it kind of hard getting tech detail vrs more opinion based responces. What could I maybe get by adding ALL or most of these options staying away from FI

Thanks

You won't get much from bolt on from this car. A full exhaust might get you a grand total of 7 or 8 pounds WITHOUT a cat. An intake might get you 3 or 4 or so. A flywheel will free up usable horsepower but technically the car doesn't make anymore. It's usable hp that we care about anyways. It's enough to be noticable. An ecu and some good tuning can free up some horsepower as well but don't necessarily expect miracles. If you do everything properly, you might get 20- 25 hp or so at the wheels but this will set you back a few thousand dollars. Going faster in this car isn't cheap.

Exactly what I have found . That extra 20hp is kinda nice but you will be left wanting more ......

imo flywheel is best bet when looking for accel. Will pretty much only effect 1-3/4 gears, amount of effect decreasing the farther you go though. Remember, though, that you are not necessarily looking for the lightest flywheel, but one that is light with the weight centered as close to center as possible.

that said, I don't have alw flywheel on my car right now but I will soon enough. Also look into smaller wheel diameters to pick up some gearing, can help slightly w/accel.

4.777 Feed final drive will help to if not going FI.

Could be too much on the transmission if kicked up to that with FI.

I agree it seem you can't get more than 25 to 30 HP on NA mods that cost some serious money. I've checked out some RX-8's in Japan and it was the same story.

Air intake (AEM/MS or RacingBeat), ECU flash, Mazsport fan mod, pulley, exhaust, and flywheel (on M/T) will do a lot for you and get you around 30 HP more, but you will have to think about it.

The problem is some of your NA mods could interfere with your FI mod in the future. If you change your pulley (Agency and Unorthodox seems most recommended) than you may not be able to use that when you go turbo or supercharger. Same goes for even air intake or ECU flash, as they may be re-done or different for FI.

Air Intake, Mazsport cooling fan mod, and Pulley are cheap mods. If you got a little more than the flywheel and depending on who is doing the ECU flash and for how much, you might go for it. If you have to choose between the Flywheel and Pulley, I think a lot of people will say Flywheel. Also, you can keep the flywheel when you go FI. If you can afford both no problem, but the pulley would be cheaper. I think the exhausts are expensive and will drive you nuts trying to decide. I think it would be better to wait until you go FI, unless you just insist that you need to make lots of noise.

If you are going cheap, I would stop at 3 or 4 mods. Might be worth your while and might not be a big deal to remove or sell them when go FI.

Personally, I did ECU flash and Air Intake. Will do Mazsport Fan anyway, even though my ECU flash turns on my fans sooner. I'm going supercharger (as I have an RX-8 Auto and need/want instant boost) and waiting around for the twinscrew guys (Pettit and Hymee) or the Axial Flow to have complete prices, HP numbers, and kits ready to be shipped so that I can compare and buy one.

If your going turbo, it looks like Mazsport turbo kits is kicking ***. Mazsport and the twinscrew/AxialFlow superchargers will have embarrassed Mazda and Mazdaspeed in my opinion.
