Geez, am I the first post representing B&B? Looked at a few exhausts for the '8, B&B by far had the best fit & finish of the ones I saw in person. The B&B's got a real throaty roar when you step on it, but is tame at idle/cruising.

I have Fujitsubo exhaust. All hand made. From Japan.

Quietness and deep noise like the FDs.

Kind've surprised on this as the B&B exhaust has been widely ripped in the Porsche community for the lack of quality. When I had the 911, many people would comment how the tips didn't line up right, or how the internal piping was not really 3" (Fabspeed actually showed some pictures of a cut open B&B unit and it didn't look good). Maybe their product improved these past few years.

Dave, C'mon now, show some love. Did you happen to watch the Bucks open a can of woop-*ss on Oklahoma State last light. Teddy Ginn Jr. #7 for the Heisman has already started. He, Bush, and Peterson ought to provide alot of highlights next year! You better watch them why you can because they won't be in college long.

I am no expert on exhausts, I understand the fact of less restriction, but what is the purpose of spending all the money to upgrade the exhaust if you gain maybe at best 5HP? Is it becasue of the sound difference, the look? Just curious.

Also, what makes one exhaust better than the other? Once again is it the sound, looks? Is doesn't seem that the performance can be that much of a factor.

Per Racing Beat:

http://racingbeat.com/resultset.asp?PartNumber=16397

"Based upon our initial test sessions, it appeared that the Mazda engineers did not leave much "untapped" horsepower behind in the stock exhaust system. Although it appears there might be modest power gains available from a "cat-back" exhaust system, be wary of big horsepower claims from any aftermarket exhaust system.

Our testing has provided the following results:

Stock production engine - with muffler removed +5 HP
Stock production engine - with RB muffler + 3.5 HP
Stock production engine - with aftermarket system "A" muffler + 3.5 HP
Stock production engine - with aftermarket system "B" muffler + -1.5 HP"

yea same with ms. I think this just attributes to people basing their decision on exhaust on sound alone and less on appearance. JIC = oversized MS exhaust bigger tips just as quiet.

There is a thread just about this. Please search.

No need for 2 million threads of exhaust sounds.

Confused because I cannot see spending the amount it costs to upgrade the exhaust and achieve 5 additional HP.

i don't think there is an aftermarket exhaust out there right now that the tips don't turn, unless they chrome the tips...rotary's exert an enormous amount of heat...i think the tip discoloration is a "have to live with" ordeal...somebody correct me though if i'm wrong...i know my tips discolor...just have to keep polishing...
