Unhappy Interesting Points Made by Racing Beat Regarding Increasing HP

First time I checked out their site and found some interesting thoughts from Racing Beat and the RX8. Read the RX-8 Product Development section...

Welcome to last year. No new info there. We have pretty much known this since they stated marketing the exhaust about 9 months ago.

Thanks, but some of us did not buy our car last year. I purchsed mine the end of October so this is new to me. I posted this because I cannot see all the money people are spending on mods that don't add up to much additional HP or performance. For me, I'll wait for a reliable turbo or supercharger and then spend one big nut.

Get used to being trampled if you don't "do a search first before you post". People on this site get really pissy about it. It drives me crazy. I browse the forums. I don't get on here and read EVERYTHING all day long.

I appreciate your post. I had not read that info yet.

Thanks!

Did not mean to give you a hard time, but pretty much everybody on this board knows Racing beat is the real deal. many of us went to their open house after sevenstock (big RX event in LA). The reason to get a cat back for this car is definitely not hp gain but more for a better sound. A midpipe/hi flow cat unit will give you about 4-8 hp not bad. Overall changes to the exhaust at best will net you about 10 hp. Not super noticeable, but substantial none the less. Also if you are planning to get FI down the line, you may want to mod the exhaust as it will decrease back pressure and increase hp for the FI application.

Thanks. I guess I asked for it. And yes FI will be in the future once there is a proven track record. I personally think Mazdaspeed will come out with something, but whether it's avaialble after market, who knows. I figure Mazda knows rotaries better than anyone and also has the big $ to spend on development and testing.

Alright I'm not going to give you any more crap. I will tell you that the chances for MS to come out with a viable high hp FI kit is small. They might bring out something but it probably won't match the aftermarket stuff becuase usually the factory tuners (Mazda Speed, Toyota Racing Development, etc) have to honor the factory warranty. The kits that you are seeing coming out are very mild. The MS Miata is a whopping 35 hp increase, the TRD SC for the 3.0/3.3 L engine outs out about 40 hp, etc. Don't expect a massive hp increase from this kit. In a recent magazine they were testing a "development" car and it had a MS SC and they estimated hp to be about 275 hp. Hardly enthralling. If this the case give me a Greddy unit.

At this point people are trying to buy things that are giving little hps but much driving experience...Like flywheels, coilovers or catbacks...No cirious hp gains can be made, but sure this parts will make your car stand up more to you and to everyone else..Only the smoothness and the feeling of an rx8 with mods like that is avery big gain...

P.S. Everyone is waiting for a reliable turbo!!!
