Hey notears......i've got the rattles every so often too. Most of the time it occurs during idle at a stop light or drive through. The rattle started with mine about a week or 2 before the cel first illuminated. Your's might be coming on in the near future.....

Thats pretty much where I noticed mine, coming up to a stop light, once I let off the accelerator, it sounded like a rattle, almost as if I was dragging an aluminum can. I originally thought it might have been a loose heat shield, but nope. Still no CEL, but I already ordered the RP, so hopefully I can get it replaced before anything "bad" happens.

Yep, I post on here sometimes It was before. My car originally dynoed in the mid-170's. Put my pullies on & got 1-2 hp across the rev range, then put on my hi-flow cat and got to low 180's.

Nem didnt get 8 hp showing on his dyno--the numbers actually didnt change --what happened was that a buddy dynoed the same days he did(before install and after install) and his buddys car lost approx 8 hp on the 2nd dyno day(the day that Nem dyno'ed after he installed his) so he figued he should have lost 8 hp that day too. But he didnt he had the same results as the 1st day so he lodgically assumed he gained 8 hp.

Random Tech Cat
I ordered Canzoomers Random Tech cat.
I was about to order Nemesis's RP cat but CZ talked me into theirs.
(Same price but 5 Year !! warranty)
We'll see.
Still eagerly waiting for my CZ stage 2 with act and resonator))

Well, i just got off the phone w/ SR and they were not very helpful in regards to solving my problem. They basically stated that they NEVER had, nor heard of anyone having any issues with their high-flow cat......and they were very adamant about it even after I mentioned the forum and the other people who seemed to be having the same problem!!
He said I could send the unit back to them for inspection and they would then make a decision about what to do with it.
My thoughts.....NO THANKS BUDDY. I can't justify paying to have the defective product shipped back to them not knowing if they will decide to replace it or not. Not to mention being out of a ride during the whole process.
I'm going with either the CZ high-flow unit or a straight pipe. I'll never buy another product from SR

looks like this could be an issue with all high-flow units after a certain amount of time......

The RP cat RX-8 I believe uses near the same materials as what they've used in their FD RX-7's. That's part of the reason I went with theirs, because of years of a proven track record. I'd be curious to hear about anyone's failing and under what conditions.

supposedly it is mannufacture from the same components of the one built for the FD's..in which case..i know people who have put plenty of track time and miles on theirs with no problems...but with that said...we have to remember that the cat experiences high heat all the time...so really no matter how or who makes it, human hands are constructing these and there is always room for error...kinda like a flywheel...sure they say avoid 10K RPM's but those thing could disintegrate at 5K due to a weakness in the metal construction...it's kind of a hit and miss type thing...
but it does seem that SR has a little bit of research and owning up to a potential flaw to do...
