I don't know if it was mentioned on here yet but I didn't see it displayed in the first post, the Agency Power 3" full cat-less dual resonated exhaust which goes for $760. I have it and I gained 12 rwhp in 90+ degree weather, which probably comes to 15 flywheel hp and it's only $760.

I posted a dyno on the site a while back and if I can find it I'll post it on this thread.

Sounds about right when going cat-less.

Hi,
I am a proud owner of ES T-2 with mid-pipe and headers and rotary tips.
Fitment 4/5 - Need some minor touch up here and there and a cover for the Header bc it will bumb against your tranny once a while
Sound 5/5 - If you want plp to hear you and know you are coming thats the setup
Performance 4/5 - Havent had it on a dyno, but from 5000 RPM onwards you do feel solid differences in accelration PLUS due to weight reduction car feals lighter at the back.

Enjoy

Is anyone here running the TurboXS with an Agency Power Dual res? I've been considering TurboXS for a while now, and have an AP midpipe on the way. I wanna know how it sounds.

Exoticspeed R2-Titan

After reading the bulk of this thread, I think I've narrowed it down to the Exoticspeed R2-Titan.

I really like the Ti tips. My only concern is some have said it's really loud. Is that with the full header back system, just cat-back?

I'm looking to make a bit more noise, but not wake the dead. Please help clarify.

ps. By clarify, I don't mean suggest some totally different setup

Well that's typical of a full "race" exhaust. I'm interested in the cat-back.

A lot of people have this setup, but no one has videos of it. I figured I'd help out. Here are videos of the Borla cat-back with the RP Supercat:

You can hear rattling in the first video and that's because I bought my RP used and it was broken out of the box. Serious bummer.

I have a the exoticspeed S1-t and its loud... some days I love it, some days I wish it was a bit quieter. I don't think ES makes any quiet exhausts, haven't heard their new ones though. However, it is a nice sound and the ti-tips would go nicely with your lugs.

Would a custom exhaust set up produce any noticeable gains? Headers, midpipe n two apexi styles mufflers...

Okay, as much as I'd like to read through the twenty odd pages (sarcasm), and I honestly tried, can someone please tell me whats the most performance oriented setup?

Which midpipe has the most horsepower gains? Which exhaust is the lightest and which one has the most gains in the middle-upper range?

As of now I'm leaning towards the HKS Hi-Power due to weight loss since it SHOULD be lighter since it's a single exit system. Please correct me if I'm wrong. The horsepower gains aren't bad either compared to other systems, am I correct?

I have no idea what midpipe to match up with the exhaust though. Any suggestions?

Sorry misread your post.... you would gain becuase of the cat removal but as far as headers and catbacks go, I'm not entirely sure of the gains that can be acheived... the stock system is designed really well and there isn't much to be had on the NA Renny. I know with catback alone there was absolutely no change to how the car drove... just sounded way more sexy

I agree with what your saying about the weight reductions and have heard good things about the HKS Hi-power (heard it is also really loud though also); especially on FI'd 8's. Your biggest gains in the range you are looking for will be with a midpipe (but again, there is not much NA power to squeeze from this engine). As far as midpipes go I think most people have RB or AP midpipes; but since I am biased because I bought the BHR midpipe, that is the one I'd recommend. Fitment was perfect and the quality of build is great; it is more expensive but as with most things you get what you pay; not to mentions those boys at BHR took over a year to develop it to what they believe is the best setup for the Rx8.

TurboXS racepipe and HKS Hi-power for the best performance imo
TurboXS is a straight pipe that offers the most flow and is lighter
HKS exhaust claims the most HP gains and makes sense because it is single outlet also lighter
However this setup will be loud as hell and don't look for much return in HP
As said before you are pretty much maxed out on HP in a NA 8

I live in SoCal so I don't know if it's a good idea to sacrifice civility for negligible gains. I'm a function over form over comfort sort of person but I don't quite know if I should jump go with a TurboXS + HKS setup.

Anyone have sound clips of that setup? I'm gonna go looking (again) on youtube to help me with my decision. And to those who chimed in, thanks for the help!

I may end up with a BHR + HKS combo since I heard the BHR midpipe since I've heard great things about it as well. We will see.

probably be better to go with the BHR midpipe anyway...XS will not pass emissions
plus if you get the TurboXS you will have to weld a new end on it to fit the HKS exhaust...not difficult just aggrevating

I wouldn't mind swapping back the stock catted pipe back in for emissions, that's not too much of a hassle. But I guess I should go with the quieter BHR unit.

Anyone have any input for the THMotorsports Midpipe?

Currently running on stock headers, replaced my cat with a 2.5 stainless steel custom made midpipe with the stock resonator and the Greddy SP2 catback and it sounds wickeeeeeeeeed nice!At 3krpm it growls and at full throttle the scream is just amazing!

As soon as I dropped my clogged cat, my rotard felt like it was alive again, full power gain till 8.8krpm no power clogging. Theres a bit of top end power in the rpm range, gave it a few runs with a friends completely stock rx8 and I always pulled on him when both of us got to the power band. Midpipe is custom made and welded 2.5 stainless steel to the stock resonator and the greddy sp2 catback! Definitely nice, looking forward to the BHR ignition system and prolly headers by Racing Beat! Will post vid up in a while!
