I have a 91 gsx and the cel doesnt come on. I have had 3 2g's before. Might end up selling the 1g.

Yeah, but a 1G is OBDI and isn't a very big feat not to have the CEL come on with no cat. OBDII monitors this a lot closer though. I think it has a lot to do with the turbo.

The B&B exhaust claims 19 hp gain. Is that on a turbo car? If so how much of a gain might i expect from this exhaust on a stock 05 GT 6sp?

Ignore any claims of HP increase from the exhaust on a stock 8. If you remove the exhaust entirely you would only get ~5 HP. The only way you would be able to get more than that would be to gut your cat or replace it with a midpipe. Either of those options means you'll fail any emissions testing and your car will almost certainly throw a CEL. But you will feel the difference so plenty of people have 'em.

I call BS on this.
My REV8 Racing Beat catback and Mazsport midpipe netted me 40 extra horsepower.
I do have a supercharger, a non supercharged car would get a little less than half that.
Removing the cat gets more horsepower on almost any make and model of car.
The REV8 with the standard cat gives about 5-10 HP on a N/A RX8 or 10 to 20 on a S/C RX8

Stock production engine - with muffler removed +5 HP
Stock production engine - with RB muffler + 3.5 HP
Stock production engine - with aftermarket system "A" muffler + 3.5 HP
Stock production engine - with aftermarket system "B" muffler + -1.5 HP

When someone is talking adding just an exhaust to a N/A car it's a bad idea to give them the impression that they're going to get a significant performance upgrade if they go with an aftermarket exhaust. It's also a bad idea to combine to mods (midpipe & exhaust) and then make assumptions on which is giving you the power gains you're seeing. All the dyno tests I've seen posted have indicated a (relatively for the rx8) significant increase in HP with the midpipe regardless of a aftermarket exhaust or stock exhaust. I haven't seen too many dynos testing the stock and an aftermarket exhaust on a car with a midpipe but would love to see how much more gains you get from the different aftermarket exhausts once the big restrictor on airflow, the cat, is removed.

Is the cat and midpipe the same? If I remember right reading somewhere that if the cat was replaced with a test pipse or whatever, then the ecu would have to be modded, if not the the injectors would pump more fuel and make the car run to rich or lean and it would damage the seals. Is this true?

If the cat was removed will it harm the engine? Does the computer for the engine has to be modded to do this?

if you take it off it will not harm the engine and no the computer do not have to be modded but you will have a check engine light for having no cat

Anyone know where I can purchase the B&B exhaust that is stated in the original post?
I was looking for a good HP gain but didn't know if I need to buy more than just the B&B Catback Exhaust System listed here. In the description it talks about additional race pipes? Is this talking about with a high flow cat or something?

You won't get any HP gain with just a catback.

Where can I purchase a Borla exhaust kit for a 07 MT?

There website only has them up to 06, I've looked on ebay etc.... nothing.

Or I would go with an HKS system, again, cannot find anything on any website.

Any suggestions?

Doesn't look like they make an prebuilt aftermarket exhaust. That person had to have had a custom exhaust built to specs by Blueflame.

Sounds a whole lot like a Borla tho.

Not sure if you already got your Borla but there's no changes between '04 and '08 for the exhausts (pretty sure no changes for the '09 as well but I'd wait for someone with an '09 to try it out).
