im not from CA - but even here in texas, the mazda techs didnt phsysically look at my CAT on the "big" recall i just went thru... when i told them i had a custom SuperCAT they flipped out and were just weird/stupid.

the RP superCaT is highly reccommended.

Hay Guys.. I just got my RP Supercat on Monday.. I didnt put it on as soon as I got it like I wanted to because I had the BIG recall thing.. Yesterday morning I took it in to Browning Mazda in Cerritos CA. They told me it was going to take a Day or two... I was like AUG!!... But oh well... They said they have a rental car for me... I went next door to the Dodge Dealer they had an Enterprise rental car place in the office... The Mazda Dealer paid for it but they gave me a dam KIA Spetra... AGGG... I asked the person helping me if it can go on the freeway and she told me it could... (she was right.. It could.. but she failed to mention Only in the slow lain." Any way Mazda called me arround 4 pm and said my car was ready... I picked it up. Everything was ok with my car... Only needed on leading spark plug changed. and the reflash.. that was it...

OK.. now with the RP SUPERCAT STUFF..

Like a dummy... I sprayed the cat with "high Tem spray paint" ....... I must say.. DO NOT DO THIS!! It does look very nice after I did it.. but when I put it on.. lastnight and drove it... IT was smoking and smelled bad... I guess the paint was not that good to take the heat.. But... anyhow... The car drove very nice.. felt like it flowed better. I havent got to take it to very high RPMs. but as I went faster It felt better and better.. The only thing I don't like is the noise.. For me.. I have a Greddy exhaust and it is LOUD. But not raspy at all... More of a loud rotary sound.. Kinda nice sounding in a way... But for the most part.. after the paint burned off it is a Great part and Im happy.. I may still get a Dynomax Bullet put in for the sound but I will drive it more to see how it is going.

Very nice review. I also have a Greddy exahust and now I can expect what kind of noise it will produce.

Well, I should get mine in tomorrow or friday... I just moved for college and kinda screwed up the address when I ordered... put my old street address + new city/zip code but I should be able to fix it tomorrow I think (hope). I have RB exhaust and intake, I'll let you all know how it is when I get mine in and installed.

All of that can void your warrenty.

kinda, in most cases it voids warranty on that part alone. the exhaust should be exhaust warranty only. not too sure about intakes though.

I finally had to go with a cat and obviously since it's an RP Supercat I had to have it. I also have a Hymee cat back. It was too loud for my taste when I put it on. I'm an old fart so it might be just my taste. I had a resonator welded in but there was little space left for much of one. It is kinda nice when I want to show off but still a little over for me most of the time. I'm going to see if they can put a bigger resonator in the pipe further up. If not I can get along with it.

On the quality side it is a very nice part and I have no problem with it having RP on it. j/k
I have no idea what all the flack is about a hanger, seems just fine the way it is.
I have no rattle even with the added weight of the resonator.

I always thought you made the RP supercat, until some forum members posted Rotary Performance on one of the threads a long time ago

It does. Hack you can even get fire from the stock system if you try hard enough.

you have to really drive it hard if you want flames. but yes, it can happen even with stock.

If it is anything like the SR you should be able to hear it driving down the highway. If you have the resonator installed, it will be a little more subtle.

Deeper tone, more noise when letting off the gas. I have the Greddy and it gives a nice tone when shifting gears. Coupled with a blow off valve I am sure it will sound awesome.

Oh and more noise when stepping on the gas especially when going through an underpass. Quite a bit more growl.

You know that subtle boom sound when shifting? Magnify that by ten and you will have it.

cool thanks for the response. and with the addition of the supercat that nice little boom at the shift should also come with some flame action

I don't hear the cat unless I'm on the throttle hard with the stock exhaust. Cruising around the RP is just as quiet as stock for me at either 40mph or 70mph

i have the supercat with sp2 exhaust and it is loud as hell!!! im not too fond of it and am now looking to switch to the hks legamax instead of the sp2. also i had the heat sheald, that comes welded on the cat, fall off wi=hile driving down the freeway the other day???

P.S the greddy sp2 and rp supercat combo will get flames to come out of the tips once its warmed up ....but i would recomend a set of earplugs,...haha
