I will let you know when we do the test car install. For that we can hand cut some parts that will in production be made another way.

A new user has posted a question on the DIY thread. His concern is the shorter space going across the gates.
To start with it has never caused a problem to anyone making a shift to the next gate. I've never heard of one anyway.
Next, the reason for this should be obvious as changing the leverage one way also effects the other way. In fact the reason that we started to play around making these was a problem with the space between the gates not the throw, that was just a bonus.
When I first got my own Rx8 I found that when shifting quickly I sometimes hit the gate between 1-2 and 3-4 on the 2-3 shift. Other people chimed in on that. You just don't quite get to the next slot and "hit a wall" so to speak.
Mazdaspeed seemed to have noticed this also as they had a SS kit.
We bought one and although it worked fine we felt it was priced to high and we could make a better one for less.
Our goal was to improve the "feel" as well as the throw. Also we wanted to make an easier install. We did all that and warrented it for life.
I guess that is why it is such a great seller.
Bottom line is to just keep driving it and enjoying yourself, You'll get used to it by next week.

I'd love to say it was ready but getting stamping dies made and tested takes more time then building the inhouse parts. It is in the works though.
Be nice to get some 04-08 sales going, doesn't anybody drive those anymore?
Guess if I don't get the new ones ready my dog can't eat?
Or I can't drink, hard choices.

Well, I thought I'd ask this question here instead of starting a new thread as this one seems to be very much alive... Series 1... recently, I removed my RP shifter and noticed that I have a torn rubber seal/gasket - you know, the piece that sits under the metal plate with the 3 bolts as shown in the picture of Post 6 of Gomez's DIY thread. It must have moved from its position when I secured the plate on during the short shift installation, and got crushed (and cut) by the metal plate. I went to Mazda to try and order this piece of rubber and they brought up the parts database and said that there is no such part in the picture. Anyone knows what the part number is? I may have to cut it out from a piece of silicon sheet if I can't buy it. Also, does anyone know where I can download the entire parts manual and workshop manual for free? Thanks in advance.

You guys are going to have to cut me some slack on this as Ive had a little stroke.
I'm doing better then the doctors said I would but i still feel like a geek. I can't run machines though so all I can do is direct someone else. It's not ideal for prototype work so I'm off of this for 2-3 weeks I hope.
