Passed S2000, STI's, Mustang and EVO's on straights. I wonder if those turbo's can't hold the heat? This included my arc enemy in the black EVO heavily modified that shot out 3 foot flames at me. Never thought I could pass him, but I did twice!
The S2000 driver with intake, exhaust, Konis and Avalon's said I kept pulling away from him in the straights. Mu ha ha...

Just installed the REVi and duct. I am really impressed with the quality, design and fit.
To the people who think the duct is an expensive piece of plastic:
Fabricate a duct that is at least equal to the RB duct in quality, form and function, then report back what the cost, time, tools and skill set required was. Make sure you include pictures.
I have a good stock of aluminum and a TIG - and I am very happy that I shelled out for the duct and shipping instead of fabricating one myself!

As always, Racing Beat doesn't do anything without thorough research and testing. I did consider the frontal areas available when designing the ram air duct for the RX8:
Open area of "grille" 37 square inches
Open area of lower mouth opening 120 square inches
Projected frontal area of radiator 360 square inches
The classic design criteria for a duct leading to a radiator is "1 to 3", that is, the duct can be one third the area of the radiator and not restrict cooling. As the numbers above show, the front of the RX8 satisfies this requirement even if the 37 square inches of grille area are dedicated to engine ram air. Two other factors have a bearing on this analysis: the stock radiator of the RX8 has a VERY fine fin design which reduces air flow - and puts a premium on sealing the air ahead of the radiator to maximumize the pressure of the air to improve cooling; second, the underside of the ram air duct is a curved shape that directs air into the radiator more smoothly. To sum up, there is still plenty of air to cool the radiator when using the ram air duct, and it is well-directed to do the job.

Removing the undertray in the RX-8 WILL reduce airflow through the radiator core significantly, the same happens with the FD due to the steeply angled radiator position and dense fins. Air will take the path of least resistance, going under the car instead of through the rad core. The undertray traps the air so it doesn't have anywhere else to go.
i have lost 2-3 mpg since i have installed the ram duct. i have gone from a 17-18mpg when i installed the revi to the lastest tank which i filled today- 15.26 mpg.
Racing Beat should warn people that this CAI system can significantly increase the weight of one's right foot.

:Dsame problem here. with the revi i got the two worst tanks of gas since i got the car. 18.5 and 17.7 mpg.
but i dropped my 0 to 60 and 1/4 mile times by .5 second. will install the duct on thur. cant wait to see what happens then.

What about the board that just underneath the 2 stock tubes. Can that go? I was too lazy to cut a hole around my Odula intake (or the RB intake for you guys) and put it back, will the air goes 90 degree to that area? But I have put the top one back on so there will be no air communicate to the engine bay?????

Since you already received your air duct you can tell me if you have to remove the revi or does it just attach to the revi opening? I already have the revi installed and I love it I'm sure you will too, I like the idea of the air duct but I have to wonder how much of a difference will I see from running with just the revi alone... has anyone had the revi and then installed the duct? Did u notice a difference?

just got mine installed last night. I had missed the UPS delivery and spent about 1 hour finding and chasing up the ups truck! To test if the air duct had made any difference, I drove the car like I would normally everyday. Maybe it was just part of my imagination, but the car was able to rev up faster. At higher speeds, which is where ram air effect is to make the most gains, right? The most noticible difference I felt was 4th gear on the freeway, about 4000rpm on up it pulled unlike it ever had before. And yes, at idle there is that cool hissing sound now coming out of the grill! I will perform further butt dyno testing tonight after work. Big thanks to Jason at the RX8 store and everyone at RB!
