today was the first day i noticed it, and only on the drive back. Nothing extra ordinary happened today.

I installed mine last night. It wasn't as easy as I thought it was going to be.....

I am not sure if the intake is flush with the opening, anyone else have this concern?

Also, I could not connect the L brackets on the Styrofoam to the duct....anyone have this problem?

Is the duct supposed to completely cover the lower half of the grill? I think I have a little space in between...

I had to drive in traffic this morning so I have not had a chance for any good observations of power, but I am going to drive around over lunch.

The L- Brackets bring it up higher. You need them on to make sure the outlet is flush with the foam gasket on the REVi inlet.

 

the gas smell was gone this morning and this evening who knows i might of rolled through gas on the street. The L brakets were really hard to install. When installing the ram air I barley screwed in any of the screws. By this i mean 2 threads at most. Once it was tacked up i screwed the screws accordingly to tighen or loosen the duct till it was in place. Tehn i tightened them all down.

 

i'm going to take a educated guess that to attach the brackets there is no drilling required?
i wouldn't think so...but you knwo what they say about assumptions :o

I just installed today after I got off work and thought it was easy but required a lot of work. I definitely had a harder time installing my borla exhaust and tanabe swaybars compared to this install. I took it for a spin and floored it to see if I could notice any difference. The intake sounds the same but with a slight echo type effect to it. I didn't feel any difference as far as performance goes, but its still early and I'm also effected by the Las Vegas heat. FYI I'm also using the green filter replacement along with my setup. I was dissapointed however with the duct not running directly into the stock intake box like one of the members here mentioned. I am happy that I did purchase this over the Odula ram air duct, the Odula duct would have cost me over 350 from japanparts.com!! Now I have to fight the urge to buy the Revi intake.

 

did you take out the vaiduct and hose that is in front of the wall before the stock filter box????

if not i think it would be very easy to remove it and with a little dryer duct you would have what you want. total cost maybe 5 bucks.

would love to hear if you do this, as i just took out my stock box with a green filter.

I didn't have a problem lining up my L brackets, it actually pitched up the duct so it has a more direct angle for air flow.

I also did remove the vfad duct and let the hose just hang in front of the stock box. I don't feel like taking off my bumper again but I'll try and see what I can do when I pull out the stock box.

 

I think I might have to reinstall. I think I got the Ghetto duct going right now.

 

20.4 mpg in mixed driving on my second tank. Does anyone else notice ~1+ mpg increase after installing the duct?

 

Do you have the REVI intake and did that make an improvement or did you only see improvement after the CAI was installed?

 

I have the REVi also. With P flash and REVi my mpg went from 17 to 19. Now since the RB duct I'm over 20 mpg (barely) for the last 2 tanks.

The 17 - 19 improvement may be due to the transition from winter gas. But, for the most recent increase the only change made was the RB CAI duct.

 

I'm on my first tank, so I'll post up some results later.

 

Here's a tip for getting those L-brackets installed. On the driver's side I put the bolt DOWN through the L-bracket into the DUCT. On the passenger side L-bracket, I duct taped (no pun intended) the nut to the L-bracket and then put the bolt up through the DUCT to the awaiting duct-taped nut on the L-bracket. You could actually duct tape both nuts on the brackets but I had already done the driver's side with the bolt going DOWN into the DUCT and didn't want to fuss with it anymore! Once again, nice job Racing Beat. I do see though, where a license plate will restrict maybe some of the available air therefore, NO PLATE FOR ME!!

Well that is certainly an indication of much more air getting through the system. This looks like a good option for mpg and performance..

 

Does this mean that we can put a little sticker on our cars that says "Ram Air" like those really hip Firebirds? Man, I always wanted one of those! Or... something.

I wonder if the ECU will "learn it away" as some reported happened after living with the REVi alone for a while? I'm not sure if anyone ever proved that that indeed happened, but I think I remember seeing some fairly reliable evidence that it did...

so what if it does? clear the KAM and NVRAM. done. I clear them now just about every time i fill up any way.

 

I just refilled the 3rd tank after the RB CAI duct at 301.2 miles, 14.2 gals. That's 21.2 mpg in mixed driving some with 105 degree weather (A/C on). To add to the discussion about inadequate air flow. My radiator fan did not "run on" after an hour freeway run in the heat which it has in the past (puzzling). I have almost 1k on the duct and have not experienced any reduction in performance. I think we have a winner!

 

What you really need is one of those screaming chicken decals on the hood. That, and some bitchin' cragars sticking out from the wheel wells.

 

Really, you do? I should probably start doing that. Add it to the oil-checking ritual and chalk it up to rotary uniqueness!
