You shouldn't have seen anything on a dyno since this is only a benefit when you are moving fast. A dyno is not a be all end all tool that people make it out to be. It does have it's place. It is impossible to test this unit with a dyno. You need to be moving. The RX-8 doesn't dyno correctly anyways so no one should trust any dyno numbers from one.

Not a waste here. I just got my 5th consecutive tank at over 20 mpg. At any speed over 30 mph the throttle response is now instantaneous and the pickup at high speeds (roll ons) has been noticeably improved for the last 1k+ miles. I have not felt the ECU reigning it in at all.

With this type of cooling it explains why the Turbo's couldn't pass me on the track when it was 1oo degrees plus. Instead I passed them.

Fortunately all mods are not created equal. And, comparing a CZ to this duct goes beyond apples and oranges. My mileage has improved with the duct. That alone would justify getting it for most. But fortunatley for me, as many others, who mod for the sake of mod this one worked out. Sorry your CZ experience and others were not good but we should evaluate each mod on it own merit.

FYI, with 'normal' gas pedal use, i'm definitely going to break some kind of gas mileage record on this tank!!!

btw i have the full RB intake/air duct setup :p

Which, in English, means it clears the learned fuel trim based on driving trends.

How do you reset the ECU? Can it be done w/o any tools or computers? I think I should do this too as I got my full RB setup in last week and so far on the first tank of gas I was about 130 mi. at half-tank (full AC everyday - normal pedal) Want to see if it will make a difference on the next tank I get this weekend. Thanks.

Never mind - just saw the post above as I posted this.

I was wondering, would the revi intake and ram air duct pkg have any changes on the emissions?

I know there was one person that actually put it on an AT 8, but could any other AT owners who have this system on please give some reviews on to mpg and throttle response.

I tried this on the last tank. I felt no difference in power. The first 1/4 tank seemed to go especially fast but I still got 20.9 mpg.

how the hell do you people get such good mileage? I drive like a grandma (thanks 3$ per gallon gas prices) and still only manage 16.8 mpg...

I check my idle LTFT using canscan unit after I add the RB intake and duct ram. The ecu add like 6-10% of fuel back depends on the ambient temp. When I drive my car, the LTFT drop back to 0%. In other words, if u drive u car in a city with too many stop and go. the gas mileage will not improve alot. I manage to get my gas mileage to 22.5 mpg on pure highway, but 18.5 only w 40% highway + 60% city.

Driving like a grandma only hurts your mileage. I have posted a thread before about driving above 3000 RPMs. In my CANscan logs, it shows that ECU advances ignition to 44 consistently between 3000 - 4000 RPMs. Anything below is a give and take on ignition advance. I used to preach a lot about granny shifting, but the sweet-spot driving has me hooked. The car drives faster in the city and gets better mileage.

And besides, granny driving is for pistons :p

BTW nhk, that's some good info on LTFT. I should try that on my logs. I'll have to sacrifice intake temp for that since I usually run this setup: RPM, MPH, Advance, Intake Temp, Airflow, AFR.

Okay I installed the RB REVi box and RAM cold air intake today. Really easy to do, instructions are excellent and everything came apart nicely....and went back together the same way.

Of course I've had no chance to do anything other than a short test drive. Intake noise is distinctly louder but not anything unacceptable. A low freq noise even at lower rev....like 3500. I was expecting that to show itself around 6000, not 3500. So far I like it. I'll log some reading on the drive to work tomorrow to see if there are any noticeable changes in things like intake temp....

When everyone installed their REVi, did they have a small gap (like you can just see part of the hole for the intake in the sheet metal at the bottom of their REVi when they were installing it?

With the bolts tightened, I just couldn't position it to be perfectly over the hole in the sheet metal, it kept riding up as I tightened the bolts.

Anyone else notice this? Did anyone else get theirs to sit perfectly?
