Probably all could afford that price, but why would we pay that price if it's not any better
then the REVI, we can use the extra money on something else.

I'm not saying the re-amemiya intake is value for money; I was just pointing out RB seems to have left out the last part of the equation. maybe they will do a duct later.

untill then I reckon the RB intake and the odula duct would be a great combination for the full performance benefit. then again the RB intake + the odula pipe probably cost similar to the Re-amemiya to start with.

Guys,
I knew I had seen that type filter before. Weapon r Secret filter also has a velocity stack built in it. Now its not the entire package like RB's and just the filter is over $100. I just remembered that there was another filter(only) with the built in velocity stack. No issue with RB being the best package for us out there.

Hey Rotarenvy, I'am glad you brought up the fact that REVI is very close to RE-Amemiya intake. It would be nice to know if one out performs the other, then at that time we can put a real value on these ...

Yes, you silly girl you can have it for your auto 8.

You will be surprised by the increase at the low end.

Ah....... didn't mention this before, but if you don't like a little noise a full throttle never mod your car.

I doubt you will ever see a good comparison of the RB and the re-amamiya intakes. just like you rarely see a bad review after someone has spent X hundreds dollars on something that decreases performance.

I doubt I will ever buy ether of these intakes as they use a K&N filter. On my last car I didn't notice any gain with a K&N nor did think it was doing a good job stopping dirt entering the engine. if you could adapt a foam filter to them then I would buy one as I have see great dirt stopping power from a foam filter.

Thanks for answering that w/o a "should have got manual" answer, I was also wondering as their website specifies MT, if it really is ok for both they might lose out on some potential customers (like it matters, everyone and their dog wants one anyway) since they specify MT. I'm going to get one someday, along with an exhaust. I had held off on doing anything to my car but now that it's been hailed on I might as well have fun with it

Judging by the description of how well the RB intake works I guess my R.E. intake is working just as well too since mine reacted with the engine in precisely the same way. I modified it by cutting the intake pipe down a bit, building a velocity stack for it, and replacing the K+N with a Blitz SUS steel mesh filter. The intake is just as quiet as stock until WOT above 4K. Besides, I would hate to drill holes in the RB box just to mount my nitrous module on the back like I did with the RE box.

i ono if you should install it since the website says for manual transmissions only :/ you would pay 320 dollars even if it made you lose hp or gave u a worse idle? i say play it safe until official word from racingbeat but thats just my opinion.

Well I have seen with my own eyes this intake. The car did not have a bad idle, it idles the same as my car without the intake. Everything I have seen coming from RB has been quality workmanship. I don't think they would pull a K&N and jepardize their reputation in the Rotary world.

Just my 2 cents

There are a bunch of pics I posted from my nitrous thread and they have the R.E. intake featured in it. I currently have three problems. 1) I have no digital camera with which to take more pictures. 2) I have no scanner to post the analog photos I could take with my other camera. 3) I have no computer skills, whatsoever, to know how to save the photo files and post them. That's what I get for relying on a girlfriend to do it for me. Now that she's moved out I am totally neutered, technically speaking. Maybe I'll ask my kids to do my secretarial work from now on.

Even so, the mods I have made would require me to take apart the system to show you what I have done. It would be easier to just note that I cut about an inch off of the pipe supplied by R.E. and home-made an adapter to fit the SUS 4.5" filter on the 3.5" inlet pipe. In making the filter fit I discovered that the "funnel" created by the adapter was THE KEY in getting the car to run right. I also experimented with making my own screen to install on the factory R.E. set up and that helped enormously, too. The RX-8 MAF sensor hates turbulence and that's what both the screens and radius horn/velocity stack eliminate. That's why RB has a horn on their piece, too. Between the radius horn I made and the SUS being steel screen I have the turbulence well under control. There is a local company who are supposed to be making aluminum adapters patterned after my own adapter so I'll call them to see if they are done. BTW, the filter base and adapter are quite similar to that which RB has done. Hmmm...... No wonder why mine works so well.

IMO, that's what we are paying for with the better intake system; a company that is willing to spend the time eliminating turbulence will be the one whose product is worth buying. It is the turbulence that makes all that noise and causes all of the problems. As far as the noise my intake makes, or not, ask the guys from Atlanta(Olddragger, legokcen, RXeighter, silverEIGHT) who took rides in my car to see what nitrous is all about. Not one complained about intake howling and we have the runs on video.

I can witness to that. His intake is 1st rate, course I wasnt looking at the guts of it. I was drooling over the nos! he has a sweet car and it pulls somewhat like a muscle car. I still swear he had chassis lift in 1st and 2nd gear!

I do not get how you can say that because you bought your car (august 2004 im assuming is when you bought it) well before mazda had poster their horsepower issues. So you personally did not get cheated and mazda was great about it they offered free maintence for life or a complete buy back at the price you paid. So yah i do not really get what you are trying to prove either!

As far as I can see, RB has been totally honest about their gains regarding their products. Even while the intake was in development, they were totally up front about what it would and wouldn't do. Sure they could lie, but it would be out of character considering that they seem bent on telling the truth.

I ordered my RB intake on Friday. I have faith that it's a good product from a good company. I am not expecting huge gains. rather a product that has been specifically designed for our cars.
