Pure oxygen instead of Nitrous

PPO2 is king. You can get 100% O2 to make the exact same power as NO2 if your shot was right... this is barring the other variables. SO it would work, it would literally be the same as driving around with a small bomb in your trunk... thus the warning. All things being equal, with the right o-rings, piping, container etc., you could run pure oxygen into an engine without any issues... but most if not all tuners do not normally deal with the hazards of pure oxygen in a "real world" sense. As an unlimited air and mixed gas diver, I do use pure oxygen all the time, and we can handle it safely (with tons of training). If I felt compelled to set up a pure O2 car, I could. But everything would have to be designed from scratch.
If you have access to a hyperbaric chamber (hospital's sometimes have them), go look at the setup of the oxygen and compare to a normal nitrous kit... I think you will start to see the dangers these guys you know are facing.

Hi to all.I am inderesting to buy the ZEX kit but i have a question if you can help me out.In Cyprus Nitro is illegal and nobody will refill the bottle.So i heard a lot of local here refill the bottle with pure oxygen .So did pure oxygen have the same results as nitro and do i need any modifications for that.Thanks

I really enjoyed that reply Kane.. On a side note, if your 80 years old, need some edge to keep you alive, do you think you could from scratch manufacture a combination O2 injection kit with a bridge to the O2 kit used to keep this 80yr old man alive? Then you would be driving around in a life saving engine cooling bomb.

Well, injecting a gas mixture with a higher oxygen content (technically not air), would work in much the same way as nitrous... However, nitrous is a commodity and much easier to come by than some random mixture... Plus you have ready-made kits... Just stick with what works, and you will thank us when you still have all your fingers at the end of the day

Anything above 37% PPO2 becomes a real PITA to deal with from a fire hazard / oxidation standpoint.
I guess you could go to a dive shop and get Nitrox - they can usually can mix it to like 33% I think....but I would imagine the weight would be high - think scuba jug in the trunk.....

Could be - I don't know a bunch about Nitrous. That would def. be at the very upper limit of what is safe...
Also may be why a lot of places don't allow it?
At 42% you are twice as flammable as regular air. At 100% O2; one small spark or heated metal shaving........ and BOOM!

as stupid as I am, I won't inject pure oxygen into my car...........we did inject then into a closed chamber with a rat inside and that didn't turn out too well for the rat..................
