not only that but there could be in the fact that the one driver is slightly better, the weight of each car.. and.. are the exhaust and intake the same for both cars?

intake/exhaust on Gt version is Racing Beat, while on the base model is HKS exhaust and K/N version 2 intake.
We were wondering if the issue of base model not having LSD made that much of a weight difference. We checked the door stickers on both cars, but I beleive they just enter a generic weight information, as both cars were identical. There are just too many factors to consider, especially given the differences that occur between two brand new cars that may be found on the same lot. Just thought it was interesting because I was initially so excited to put the flywheel and pulleys on my car....then to have it smashed by a car that has fewer "performance" parts. Oh well.
We have actually switched drivers, and regardless of who is driving what, the Gt version launches better and the base model catches in third gear.

yeah well.. racing beats site does say the went for power and sound... they found the happy medium.. so where there could have been a bit more power.. it was louder.. so they cut it down.. maybe the K&N and the HKs were mainly for power reasons... try putting the borla on the Gt model

The MT base has the LSD, Carbon Drive shaft and high powered engine. The GT has traction control and a sun roof, and some other fluffy features, none of which actually help with performance of the car.

has anyone had issues with the ap pulley after install. Ive had the check engine light come on a few times after the install of the pulley and beleive it could be to the underdriving of the alternator, according to the users manual the check engine light will come on when theres something abnormal with the elecrical system. That freakin light is annoying cause I don't want to get a "boy who cried wolf" affect, so to speak with that particular cell

good to hear... gonna order one!
what concerns me the most is installing both the pulley & flywheel & having our crappy a/c not work properly in this miami heat.

i dont think the flywheel will have a big issue on how your ac works..
but moosy's right, you gotta make sacrifices..like getting a turbo, your gonna give up MPG.. but.. to have 300+ rwhp.. is it worth it to you?

I never had a CEL either. I also never drove my car "easy". I don't think I've ever driven the car once without shifting at 8500 a couple of times.
I also never did the break-in on the car. I've driven it hard since day one, and the car has thanked me by not throwing CEL and I'll probably not have issues w/ the recall.
As far as the AC, I can feel a difference if I'm stopped at a light on a very hot day, but that's the only time.
I was thinking of wrapping the AC line w/ some heatshield tape to keep it cooler.
I'll probably do it after the recall service.

Cesar, there is no break in period on the RX-8. it came from the factory broken in.
I agree with the a/c. really sucks at a stop light on hot days.

I think the main reason why this pulley works better than most others out there is because of the amount of ''underdrive" most pulleys just lose the wieght and don't underdrive as much where as this pulley underdrives 20% I beleive and is lightened as well so it makes a bigger difference, I'd like to see the difference on the mazdaspeed one that loses the ac all together.

I think another factor with my set-up would be the light weight wheels, my volks wiegh about 15lbs so that plus the pulleys I'm seeing much better throttle response and midrange....can't wait till I get a lightweight flywheel.
