PTP turbo kit!!!!!

Next month my baby will undergo a implant!!! PTP turbo kit..

the only problem is the MAF thier piping is 2'' or so and they need to make the piping to the right size for the cobb unit to work.. i have the mazdaspeed cold air intake.. any information on this issue would be helpful.. I did some reading and the piping needs to be 3''
but would doing this on the ptp kit guarantee the cobb to work properly???

Congrats on the purchase! Are you doing the install yourself?

Did you checkout tdiddy's PTP build thread? Could have some answers for you.

AP + PTP is no go. There simply isn't enough room for the MAF housing to be accurate.

ugh i was reading that. i called up ptp and they are researching it fr me calling cobb seeing what can be done about it. but he said that it would not guarantee it would work properly.

soooo i guess i will start seeing other options =/

Honestly that won't help you. TDiddy tried to get the AP to work for a while but eventually had to go back to Int-X.

Basically, your options are:

-Int-X (somewhat hard to find now, and MazSport is outta business so no tech support from Scott)
-GReddy E-Manage Ultimate
-Custom standalone, like Haltech E8/E11v2, MoTeC ($$), etc

The pipe they made for him was a downpipe. The ptp pipe wouldn't clear his sohn unit. Plus, he had mazsport motor mounts which moved the engine location.

you can use a really short MAF tube and get great results. the pettit kit uses the shortest MAF around and even though they get REALLY shitty stability through it they are still driving them this way.

I don't believe you need to have a poorly functioning MAF like the Pettit kit even with a short and constricted MAF location. I have a very constricted MAF location and I get VERY stable MAF readings! I may need to do a slight recalibration compared to the STD MAF calibration however my MAF readings look brilliant compared to what I have seen from the pettit setup.

this is the MAF I use

it only has about 4" before the MAF. it immediately transitions from the 3.5" pipe to a 3" 90deg bend and goes straight into a centrifugal compressor (turbo).

according to all the so called experts this doesn't work

you don't need screens you don't need 6"+ of straight pipe before the MAF. what you need is a velocity stack and smooth airflow through the filter.

you could easily fit something like this to either the pettit setup or in the space tdiddy has.

The best way to do it is to run the charge tubing down and around the radiator. Like the SFR and Mazsport type 3 kits. Then you can do whatever to the MAF and itake piping you want.

I battled with this same problem in my thread if you remember. I was going to relocate my MAF but found out there just wasn't enough room behind the bumper. And to the guy above tdiddy, if you not running a MAF based system the car doesn't care one bit what your maf housing looks like.

of course it doesn't. I only replied as people think you can't run this kit with a flash tune. most think the main stumbling block on running a flash tune with this kit is the MAF setup. there is no reason why this kit can't run a short MAF and flash tune with cob or ProTuner.

Unichip Q+ (Piggyback) will do the trick.

Yes.. I talke dto ptp and they are looking into this matter a little deaper but they need to have the car there they said..
also i am very tempted to buy paulmasoners greddy turbo with the MM upgrade.. im going to think about this the next 2 or 3 days. I really wanted a top mount turbo set up. the only thing is the cobb and the MAF being the only dilemma.

rotarenvy, kind of an aside.. but how come you haven't opened up space in the engine bay with a battery relocation? Not worth the hassle or just didn't feel the need?

Any confirmed Dyno results, or charts against the Esmeril, will be nice to compare these kits
