My advice- read the stickies in the "Major Horsepower Upgrades" section of the forum. Then, read it again, if you haven't found the answer to your question
Oh, and this...

You need recommendations...don't get one! It will reduce the life of your engine. But, if your willing to do it, all i could say is...good luck with the new engine.

I would suggest a complete kit, not a custom build.

There are 2 SC options:
The Hymee kit:

The Pettit kit:

Turbo kits:
MM's turbo kit:

Esmeril turbo kit

PTP turbo kit

The Greddy turbo kit

Updated:
Turblown kit
and
SFR

I am sure I have missed a couple of the turbo kits, there are many choices.
A turbo needs some special exhaust porting to make the engine last longer at higher boost levels, without damage to the exhaust ports.

If you want big hp gains and have the money to spend then get the esmeril turbo kit, but the easiest and cheapest is the Greddy kit. Its a little harder to fine tune the esmeril kit

Turblown's kit is the way to go. What's your budget though?

to the OP. Read the above quote, realize it from someone without a turbo. Someone who's done zero research on a turbo. Someone who will never have a turbo.

Moving on...

There are lots of pro's and con's for turbo vs SC when going FI. It's going to come down to personal preference and budget.
Read the major horsepower section, after you feel you have a good grasp then start asking some pointed questions.

Coming in and asking "which one to get" just means you havent done any research. Research is key to making sure you not only get a solution that works for you, but one (when all is said and done) you enjoy the heck out of.

Now that is some solid advice.

But to the OP, like laythor said, do the research. I can't flame you (EDIT: Well I can, but won't this time) because I too have posted threads that, in the end, were pointless because normally the answer was in a "sticky", or another thread. Actually, I believe I posted a thread last year that sounded exactly like this one. I got flamed, but, all in all, I suppose I deserved it.

There's a ton on information on this site.... I basically spend my time reading. And reading. And, you guessed it! Reading some more! And with that, there are a lot of great people on this site as well. Some not so great, but we'll leave that out of here.

Anyways, good luck with the adventure ahead of you!

Why do you post when you have no experience with what is being discussed? Do you have a turbo? no. Therefor your opinion is not needed.

I do not have a turbo, so I can't give you any tips other than to search the forum and get all the information you can. You will learn to just automatically skim over Monchie's posts in the future

I think Monchie always bashes people who are thinking of going FI because he's too scared, or just does not have it himself

If only there was a way to cut the intake in half and get the same power as FI

That's right. Never had, never will.

I don't want a turbo... This is my DD and it has more than enough power for what I use it for. I would rather put the money into my Cobra.

Get the Turbonique rocket powered turbo supercharger, instead of exhaust power, it's a rocket powered impeller...

Too bad you need a time tunnel to 1962 to buy one....
