I didn't - seems that most people do though . Could be that if you pick a good place to put the bung , you don't get a cel ?

Oh and for the record when the flames come out its called "post-ignition auto detonation" Not backfiring.
Stocks can shoot fireballs huh? *runs off to find keys*

im partially interested in this thread. I'm currently running the RP SuperCAT and a Racing Beat exhaust. The only time I ever saw flames when when I was installing my Exhaust and had to take off the SuperCAT - fired it up just for ***** and grins and got some flames out the pipe. Very awesome. And jesus I never knew what loud car was until I heard my rotary engine with no car, no pipe, no muffler anything :-D

I'd love to go with a catless midpipe and get flames out the *** when downshifting etc. However I don't want a CEL - and I havenet seen any foolproof O2 foolers out there yet for our car. I could deal with having to replace my midpipe once every 2 years for an inspection (my next one is 9/07)

I would love a midpipe but there are two things that stop me from buying one.

1) The hassle with the |CEL. I don't want to have to guess that it is the normal one from the catless pipe. ANd no I am not going to buy a scanalyser
2) Even though my state does not have regular emissions checking it sitll kind of bothers me. But maybe I am confused, does the cat burn off the extra fuel which is why you would shoot flames without one?(unburnt fuel gets heated on its way out exhaust and detonates). So, does no cat just mean big time emissions, bad for the enviornment?

I wouldn't even really care what the dealer would have to say. Everytime I tell them to fix something with my car they always say nothing is wrong and give it back to me and charge me 40 bucks for labor...f that, I'm going to the dark side!

I have the RP supercat pipe. I have had it installed for about six months. I didnt get a CEL till about two weeks ago. At first it would come on and go off every few days. Now, if I drive the hell out of the car it will go off. If i am just crusin down the interstate it will stay on. So most of the time the light is on. I am really considering taking the pipe off.

I also have the Greddy SP2 catback system. Everytime one of my friends follows me, they say my exhaust is lit up and shootin flames like hell. love it

Just warmed it up and took the car for a drive , redlined it a few times on the drive. Got home reved it a couple times, no flames and i've never heard any backfires (pops). Mine is completely stock. I would think it would have to be a pretty serious backfire for it to make it out the tail on a stock car.

I have racing beat pre-cat. I love it and have not noticed much mpg change besides the fact that i have to drive around all the time to show my friends the flames that come out. usually about 5 feet long by 2 feet dia.
