Ohh ok so it basically does exactly would the factory ECU does but with the added benefit of blowing up motors, what a bargain.

Btw, I have a BS in ME, working on a ME in IE, i rebuild cars, and do all my own maintenance and mods on the 5 vehicles I own. What are your credentials? SO please, don't assume everyone on here is an un-informed user.

It's you're fault that you come off as an uninformed noob with the site you're linking.

OK, you have some pretty paper to hang on the wall. Come on back when you have some real world experience.

Lol i need not spoon feed you my credentials no matter how much they surpass yours. If your curiosity gets the best of you, my credentials can easily be found. In the meantime, relax, take a deep breath, and remind yourself that everything on the internet should be taken with a grain of salt.

And congrats on your ability to do your own maintenance and can wield a wrench with grace ... slapping on bolt-ons is a great and easy way to get familiar with cars.

I rebuilt my 87 lincoln nearly from the ground up. I'd say that counts.

I'm actually considering getting one from this site. I do believe that it can save me 1-2 mpg (my car runs pretty rich, and I'm hoping that this will lean it out). I already have the most recent ECM flash and that didn't help. Since I use this car mostly to commute I'm not interested in any (if at all) hp gains. If it can save me 1-2 mpg it will more than double pay for itself over just one year.

Rebuilding engine = swapping out bolts. Ya you're right. How can I be soo blind. I guess I mistook my torque wrench for 'slapping them on' wrench. Really dude?

I have a civic. No point in wasted gas, even if it is my 8.

Don't know what you are laughing about. You're going to have to rebuild for your seals too, just a matter of when. Why would I need to reman if I'm only modifying my gas input. I'm pretty sure you don't even know what you are talking about.

Suggest you find out how our ECU works (look up 'fuel trims' ) then hope this thread dies .

Cool Smarttune perfomance chip

I am thinking of buying a stage 2 chip made by smarttune for a 2006 rx-8. This is the chip. They are saying 20-40hp boost but in hesitant to believe. Has anyone had experience with these chips or any chips on their rx-8? I want to gain hp but not ready for a turbo.
