my friend has a 350z with intake, catback exhaust, toyo sticky tires, 18''s, and the driver is very experianced as he takes his car to the drag strip, still saving for a turbo.

my friend got his stock MT 8 with an exhaust only and intake and (MOD EDIT: STREET RACING STORIES ARE NOT ALLOWED) we had a race.

the 8 exploded ahead then as the z hit 5k on 2nd gear we caught up, but then they went faster, and then his 3rd and 4th we finally sped ahead of them. *note* the z was also MT. thing is everytime the 8 switched gears, it backfired a flame about a foot long, and it would keep the flame for about 1 or 2 seconds, it was seriously -fricken- amazing. we both got to starbucks and we talked about the insane race.

here is your proof, 350z vs rx8 = rx8 launched first and kept up for a while,

PS. -- the z *of course yall know* has a limiter chip so it wont go over 155 or something, but we went 161, and the 8, he siad he didnt even look because he was scared he was goign to hit something.

in conclusion the z is a bit faster than the 8, so if you put a turbo on the 8.... i think the z would be its "bitch"

also domestic cars can shove it period.

I had a 2000 celica gts for a beater and it wasnt bad.45k has a alot to do with it.I drove the hell outa that car for 17 monthes and i feel im in tune with it as much as anyone.

Look im not flaming anyone or trying to start any shi* but face reality rx8 is not a car to look for alot of power out of unless you want to really dump some cash.

Some one needs to learn to drive.350z with those small mods beats the bejesus out of that 8.50 hp stock difference and the 350 takes to mods better.

R32 also much heavier...

if I made 13 sec. quater I would be happy with my 8, espcielly becasue I know other then an evo I could take a turn faster and brake later then all of the cars mentioned above. Its all about the twisties with me, screw going fast in a straight line, any idiot can do that with a muscle car and an automatic tranny. It takes a real driver to master the art of canyon carving.

Also, for the post qouted above, 350z would definatly spank the 8 with those mods, either that or your friend is a crappy driver.... I would think that this story would be the other way around, witht eh Z jumping off the line and the 8 being the one to make the catch up.

I've driven an 8 with the greddy kit on it. The last dyno pull got 264hp/191tq. If I had to guess I'd say mid-low 13's @~105. I'll let everyone know when they take it to the drag strip.

As far as feel, it felt a lot faster than the 05 mustang GT I drove. The turbo 8 had much better midrange, and pulled all the way through to redline, whereas the GT's powerband feels like a vtec 4 cylinder.

Only other mods they have are a cat-delete pipe, racing beat exhaust, springs & brake pads. It's a shop owned car, and the've been working closely with greddy and pettit racing down here to get more power.

khtm - about the turbo automatic rx8 being slowerthan a stock manual -- what do you expect? Lets see a stock manual run 6.4 seconds w/o launching from 6000 RPM. Im sure if he couldrev to 6grand and then slam the gas w/o ******* up his automatic transmission he would come really close to the stock manuals clutch abusive 0-60. I bet hes got a faster street start.
