Greddy SP2 Installed today.

Just wanted to say that I have just completed installation of the Greddy SP2 no more then 15 minutes ago. I must say that it is no where near as loud as I was thinking it would be, just has a nice deep tone to it on acceleration. At idle its nearly the same as stock. Must also say, yea, the tips are HUGE, but look good, and are definately noticeable.

Installation was a snap, taking the stock out was also easily done. Hardest thing about this install in my opinion was removing the exhaust tip surrounds. Brittle plastic wing clips and two push button clips are al that hold them in, and you gotta be really carefull or else you break the wing clips. I broke two on one suround on my first try, luckily there are enough that these two didnt make any apparent weakness in the surround integrity.

Rubber hangers where a small struggle, but not too bad. I used white lithium grease in a spray can and using the attached straw nozzle, I inserted the end into the hanger between it and the hanger pin, and gave each a good lube. Using a wide screwdriver and then pry bar, they came off pretty easily.

THANK YOU to everyone who replied to my Greddy Install Help thread a few weeks ago, your help and experience is priceless, and made my instal that much easier. Thanks again, now I am off to go ZOOM ZOOM, literally.

I am considering getting the Greddy also. How does it drive now? Do you notice a HP increase?
Congrats!

I have a Racing Beat exhaust, with SR Motorsports hi-flow cat (w/ resonator option). I believe the 2 outfits that offer hi-flow cat setups are Canzoomer & SR Motorsports.

The pipes should open up a bit more over the next few thousand miles, so the loudness should increase.............. if all else fails, get a midpipe.

Cat Back upgrades give less than 5 extra HP. You can't notice the increase with just an exahust. We do it for sound and looks.

Welcome to the Greddy club by the way Catalyst, get it to POP yet?

Agreed - this is not a performance mod. It was sound for me; I thought the stock just got too Honda as I revved my way up the band and wanted something to simply lower the pitch. Love the Greddy :D

You might want to invest in some metal polish and an extra toilet bowl scrubber. Those tips are huge and collect a mondo amount of black soot.

As for pictures, I dont have them yet, I came home from work to get a wisdom tooth pulled, and my exhaust happened to show up at the same time, so Friday I spent the morning installing the greddy and then the afternoon driving back to Fourchon Louisiana (8 hours) to catch my chopper back to the oil Platform. When I get home next (end of January maybe) I will take some pictures, although, If you seen one SP2, youve seen em all.

As for getting it to "POP" if you mean the little popping sound it makes at idle or when I let off of the gas, then yes, it does do it, if you mean popping a flame out of my exhaust, I havent tried it yet, want to borrow a digital camera first.

I dont think I recieved any extra horsepower, but I noticed that the deep sound it makes has caused me to drive a little more aggressively just so I can hear it wind up. :D

I have to ask you guys something, what did you all end up doing with the "Greddy Exhaust Systems" Placard. Did anyone end up actually using it??

Also, taking the cat off is illeagal isnt it? Is a high flow cat legal?

And good tip with the brush to keep the exhaust clean, I will be taking you up on the tip and getting one when I get back home, just not looking forward to the "gold" discoleration I have heard is happening to these catbacks.

yeah, i believe taking off the cat is illegal because thats what helps it pass emissions, without it most likely you'll fail. a high-flow cat is legal though. congrats on your purchase bro. glad ya like it.

Enjoy the Greddy

Welcome to Greddy products they are awesome i have the same system on my 8 with the rotary performance mid-pip (no cat) and let me tell you it sounds amazing also i hope you changed the ring looking gastet (the one between the 2 little springs) they are one time use gaskets there is a realy good chance of having a leak and the thing is that u will not know cause of the sound. you could always change it when u get the chance it happend to me i had to order one from mazda and put it in after the fact cause i had a lift to put my system on the when i was done there was a small leak from that same gasket due to reusing it. Good luck any questions drop me a message.

Could also move to a sootless/low soot synth (RP is, if I recall)
