Here it is. The prototype of the heat shield for the K&N on the RX-8. This is my car, and I have to say that it works great. Even after driving for an hour in 80+ weather, there is no persperation on the back of the intake filter. Whoever is intersted, please P/M me, so I can get a list going. It will take 10 minutes to install!

It will be made out of aluminum. The angle on the top sheild is to allow air to get towards the top of the filter. Everthing is put on with supplied zip ties, takes only 10 minutes and holds forever. It doesn't rattle at all, either. The cut around the intake will be air tight, the prototype is just to get a rough idea.

If buying new, I would highly recommend buying the RE intake. It has the quality level compaired to that of B&B exhaust products for our 8. They are the highest quality. Why do you think I have RE, and B&b on my 8.

 

those aren't dents, they are just marks from the orbital sander. The product won't be sanded.

it does reduce noise substantially, more so than I thought. I even like it loud, but put this on, to stop the heat soak
