Custom K&N Heat Shield!!! Everyone who is interested, look!
 

Here it is. The prototype of the heat shield for the K&N on the RX-8. This is my car, and I have to say that it works great. Even after driving for an hour in 80+ weather, there is no persperation on the back of the intake filter. Whoever is intersted, please P/M me, so I can get a list going. It will take 10 minutes to install!

It will be made out of aluminum. The angle on the top sheild is to allow air to get towards the top of the filter. Everthing is put on with supplied zip ties, takes only 10 minutes and holds forever. It doesn't rattle at all, either. The cut around the intake will be air tight, the prototype is just to get a rough idea.

yea but what's the point? does it really do anything, i mean for 50 bucks..mine doesn't look to bad.

Looks pretty nice, but for the price of the K&N, plus the price of the heat shield, one could just buy the RE Intake that comes with the heat shield

This is for people who already own a k/n intake, becuase there is no k/n intake for "the old ones".

If buying new, I would highly recommend buying the RE intake. It has the quality level compaired to that of B&B exhaust products for our 8. They are the highest quality. Why do you think I have RE, and B&b on my 8.

What are these dents on it? Looks kinda weak on top. Can you post a pic of the top part close up? Does the price include shipping?

those aren't dents, they are just marks from the orbital sander. The product won't be sanded.

does it reduce noise at all?

it does reduce noise substantially, more so than I thought. I even like it loud, but put this on, to stop the heat soak
