Consequences of removing Rear Oxygen Sensor?
Sorry for the potential n%B question.
I bought a TurboXS exhaust and midpipe and am bolting it up. There are two oxygen sensor bungs but one is not reachable. I pluged that one up and am using the other for my aftermarket wideband. This means there is no room for the rear narrowband sensor. I actually had the midpipe and a bung at the shop and was going to have it welded on, but decided aganist it. Why do this if I have no cat?
I know you can drive around without this sensor and that it is mostly for emissions. I also know that unplugging it will through a CEL (which I can disable with ease), but I am wondering what precisely are teh performance consequences of running without this rear sensor. Is there ANY interaction of this sensor with the PCM (perhaps not the fundamental interaction that the front wideband sensor has with the closed loop tables, but any minor interaction would be nice to know.)
I would bet there is a thread around here. If it makes you feel better, please post a link and shout "SEARCH N00B!" Iwill understand.
THanks.
